I work in customer service, taking calls from my home for a corporation. The daily shift is 8 hours and I am on the phone at least 5 hours, most of the times 6 hours. Does $12.00 an hour seem like a fair compensation for call center type of work such as mine, or am I being exploited ? Company does provide some benefits. Thanks so much !

It depends on the area you live in, your amount of education, how much experience etc. $12 is not that great if you live in San Francisco, but if you live in Chicago or somewhere comparable, yes it is fair. Customer service reps usually top out at $12-14 in this area. Starting would be about $10.

What? You must be kidding. I live in florida and I have gone on many interviews at call centers and let me tell you......not one of them offered me over 10 bucks an hour. Most of them offered 8 bucks an hour and it seemed to be the norm. Some offered benefits and some didn't. I never took one of those jobs. If they would have offered me 12 plus benefits I would be there now without a doubt. You get to stay home, do your work in your pj's if you want and set your own hours along with benefits. Open your eyes, you got a good deal.

Unless you need special expertise it is a wonderful wage. Since you could do it from a remote location like a ranch in CO 100 miles out of town there will be millions of people would would love to do that even at much less money.
I would love that as a retirement job when I move too far to commute to a job.

It really depends where you live. Like in Utah, yes, in the Bay Area in California, no. A lot on what you get paid whether it being fair or not really depends where you live nowadays.

You did not say where you live...but you are definitely not making minimum wage, on the contrary..plus some benefits? I'd say you are doing pretty darn well.

That's probably about reasonable, especially since you get some benefits.
