I am currently in a temp job and I have been here for 5 months. I left another temp job previously to come and work this one. Now I am currently looking for another job because of my uncertainty with this one, i need more money and I would like a little bit more sercurity with my work and things seem to be changing all the time with the one that I am currently with. I am meeting with someone from another temp agency to go over some positions that he has for me and if something comes up that I like that is offering me more money, should I take it or stay with the one that I have now? Please help!!

I'm starting a new job next week. I know I am qualified for it, it is just a word processing/typing job. And I have been a secretary/receptionist for 5 years at different places. I am terrified though. It is a temp, but long term. I didn't want to stay in the temp area, but my current job is ending in a week, and I have no other offers and need a job. This new one pays very well for what the position is.

The thing that worries me is they described the environment similar to high school...a lot of gossipy women in an a larger office setting. I've been in a bad office before where it was like high school but everyone was backstabbing and mean. They said that this place the people aren't mean, just really gossipy.

I have a little expierience in the field too. I just don't get why I'm so scared. It's not like you have to keep the job forever. I'm just scared of change. And plus what if I don't do a good job, or no one likes me. One girl quit due to the gossipy environment.

I'm a full time employee who would like to start school to become an RN. I've heard of the
two year programs at local community colleges but if I could go for a BS-Nursing, that would
be much better. The only question I have is, Can I do it having a full time job? I'm single,
have 40K in annual income. The councelor told me that the 2year courses have to be taken
all under that time frame which really makes it difficult to keep my current job. If I was
to try and go for the BSN could I take my time in accomplishing the degree? Please Advice as
much as you can on this. Personal Experience is very welcomed.

I'm on the 1st day of a temp job (clerical) and all I said was, "It's nice that I managed to get a seat on the bus and train this morning". Lo and behold, one permanent lady here wanted to know if I was married and/or had children!

I need help writing an opening to resign from a volunteer leadership position Ive held for the past two years. Its a career/skill building community, and Im writing it to exec sponsor of it, who has been a great mentor. Im moving on as my career path has changed and Id actually fit better into a different skill building community. The sample ones Ive found online, open with an ask "to accept this resignation" which I think is too much for this - any ideas?

Am stuck in an office with a woman younger than me, but older mentally. And a senior citizen whom I have nothing in common with. The phone is not ringing and there is no music. Should I go to roof and jump or find something sharp in the ladies toilet, and slit my wrists. I finish here at 5 pm. Please humourous answers only.

When I joined my current employer, I signed a job offer (giving start date, salary and annual leave entitlement) and returned a copy to them. I am desperate to leave and only want to give two weeks notice as my previous employer had offered me my old job back. I've been here less than 6 months. Can they insist on me working 4 weeks notice. I have never received a formal contract. Is my job offer, my contract of employment?

I've just started a job in the IT industry and have been there 4 weeks. Another company are chasing me and are prepared to make me a good offer - nothing ridiculous but worth while all the same.

There are a lot of factors I need to consider, so I'd just like ot hear other peoples' opinions in comin gup with a solution. I'm looking for a direct "yes move" or "don't move" answer, just some other considerations I may no thave thought about.

The things I have considered so far are:
moral obligations to the existing job - they have been good to me in most ways, so I would not find it easy to say I'm going.
financial benefits - my current salary is pretty good, the new company will obviously make this better.
location - the current job is in a better location - CBD, whereas the new one is not that easy to get to
career - the current job have offered me a good career progression, the new job are also willing to do the same, maybe on a slightly better scale.

Your ideas are appreciated!

I was considering a job with Cathay Pacific, All Nippon Airways, or Japan Airlines. I was born in the United States and I was taught in Cantonese and Japanese. I was checking on the different international airlines websites, and a majority says that you need to be a permanent residence of that country in order to work for them.

I have been told that the best position to apply for is a Personal Banker I position..... as this will give me the experience and ability to pursue a variety of avenues in the future. Is this true? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I have a bachelor's in Political Science. I chose this major because I liked having to study issues and problems, analyze different opinions, and then develop and defend my opinions. That said, I have NO interest in working for a politician or any political organization... obviously, I am having trouble finding a good job.

My question is this... I have been thinking about attending a local community college to get an Associates in Accounting. I enjoyed my intro to accounting class, and everytime I look for jobs, I see several that--that look like ones I would enjoy-- require a bachelor's with 15-18 credits of accounting. I need other opinions though, if I am going to go back to school is this a good route? What other associates degree would be good for someone with a liberal arts education looking for career advancement opportunities? Thanks.

I was offered a job last week and need to determine a fair salary. Originally the job was a freelance position offering 30 hours a week in print design work (paid on an hourly rate). The person who had this job was responsible for the design and layout of a 16 page magazine, light ad sales, and other design work such as brochures. I do not know how much this person was paid, but I do know he had the time to take other freelance jobs on the side with other businesses.

This job was transformed into a part time position and offered to me. The hours would still remain around 30 a week, but in addition to the above duties, I will also be the editor of the magazine and have to write articles, take photographs, and do copy editing. The job comes with no health insurance, and working 30 hours a week, I won't be able to take a significant 2nd job.

For all this work, what would be a fair hourly rate?
