I'm on the 1st day of a temp job (clerical) and all I said was, "It's nice that I managed to get a seat on the bus and train this morning". Lo and behold, one permanent lady here wanted to know if I was married and/or had children!

My husbands family are the most annoying and nosey people ever they can never keep their nose out of anything. Nosey people should keep their noses in their own business and noone elses. Maybe she was just been friendly???

Never make adverse comments on how you got to work, or any other personal matters when you've just staretd in a job; if you are asked about your journey, accept suggestions for avoiding crowded public transport.

People are curious, and are often just trying to be friendly. You'd better develop a thicker skin, if just casual attempts at conversation make you nuts, you'll be bonkers soon enough.
