I like the human anatomy and science and stuff, but I like food and nutrition too. I'm not sure if I want to work in a hospital.

I live in PA. I finished my masters a year ago and moved to a new area. I began substitute teaching but get called an average of twice a week. I went to a temping agency to find more work and I am wondering, if I were to accept a permanent clerical job and keep it for a year or say even longer for steady income because I don't know how long it will take to find an opening in teaching, will this hurt my chances of getting into teaching? In other words if I choose to work outside the field and not stay substituting will this hurt me in a teaching interview? I realize it could because the district may not know me if I am not substituting but will they look down upon my decision to work in something else temporarily? Also is this true for taking a couple years off for having children? I am not certain what I should do. I will have a steady wage if I do a clerical job but I wonder if it will hurt my chances of getting a better job down the line.

I was offered a position with a company and am planning to take it. I would like to give a two week notice to my current company.

I would like to give my managers a 2-3 week notice to accommodate any projects that I need to finish up or prepare. However, one of my managers is very, very moody and even though we get along pretty well, she will probably have some resentment towards me if I leave. The reason I say this is because another employee recently gave their notice and left the company, and my manager was very cold to this person their last couple of weeks and ignored. Also, I am in a specialized field in which it may take several months to find a qualified replacement at my current job, which may really upset her even more.

What is the best way to approach a manager who is like this? I live in California and have "at-will" employment. I'm afraid to approach my manager and don't want my last 2 weeks to be full of tension & drama.
Thanks!

My friend and I are doing a project together and you need to make a brochure and poster telling you why to come to a certain planet for holidays. So, we decided we would pretend to be travel agents and totally try to sell our planet. And, we are going to make some ID cards with our photos on them to make us look "professional". What sort of information should we put on them? (ie, name, DOB, company...)

I work for a law firm right now, and applied for another job at a different law firm (for the same job). The other law firm is larger and has a few offices all over the USA and a couple offices in China. The law firm that I work for now has only one office, and not much room for me to advance (I am currently a file clerk). Anyway, I received a call wanting me to come and interview for the job and I *KNOW* that they are going to ask me why I want to leave the firm I am at now, even though I've been here for almost 5 years. How do I best answer this question, without them thinking I'm a "law firm hopper" or something like that? Also, they can keep my job inquiry confidential from my current company, correct?

I applied for the same job at this other law firm because it is bigger, has more offices, and looks to be a better fit for me because there are many opportunities for advancement. Should I tell them that? Or...?

"black sounding" names.. like Lakeesha, Tyrone, etc.. have you seen or know of such people in power who have also tossed away resumes from applicants with Hispanic names? I'm curious to see if this disturbing practice affects Latinos as well (focusing on white collar job opportunities for college grads).
