It is not easy, and takes a long time. You end up using credits generated by either a parent or spouse. My ex wife ended up having to use her fathers credits, and it took her five years to get her case approved. You will earn a much smaller benefit check than if you had a high paying job during your working years.
The qualifications are either a proven disability, or at retirement age.

You can't get social security because you can't find a job.
SS is for people who are ill and disabled.
YOu can maybe get some unemployment benifits.
Keep look for a job

You have to be disabled or elderly.
