I am having the hardest time deciding on what i want to do with the rest of my life. I am only a sophmore in college, and it may be too early to start thinking about what i want to do in about 10 years. However, i've only got 2 years left of high school before college and it's going to go by really fast. i need help. how did everybody else know what they wanted to do with their life? what types of careers are out there besides doctor, lawyer, those big name jobs, etc.?

I have a GCSE in Child Development and have worked in different career sectors since leaving school - but my burning desire is still to look after children, but in an adoption / care / foster home. Can anyone help me out as to what qualifications I would even need just to get a job in that kind of a work environment. Anyone know/suggestions very much appreciated!

I live in Colorado & am planning a trip to England in July. However, I'd really like to move there, & I was wondering how difficult it is for Americans to find decent work & a place to live in England.

If you were in line behind that person, would you say something to him/her, mention it to the manager, get so ticked off that you would make a big scene so everyone can know about that person having more than 20 items, when you only have 5. What would you do or say, if anything at all? Has this happened to you?

I have a very funny (and true) excuse for a time I was late but I'd like to hear other peoples true stories about their most outlandish scenarios that set them up for being late for work. Once I've read the stories I'll share mine....

I've been with my company for over 7 years and hold a senior support role and well positioned with my current employer and compensated extremely well.We have 4k employees. My overall comp is based on an 80-20 plan. Meaning 80% base and 20% comm however there is not a lot of upward mobility.Recently I was approached by the leader in my industry and has over 100k employees for a sales position. They want me to work for them. The comp is based on a 60-40 plan. 60%base and 40%comm.This company has a lot of opp to move up.I am waiting for an offer.

My question is: if my base is 100k,how much % should I give up on my base that is acceptable (from support to sales) and should I consider the move?

This employee and I have been working together for over 4 years. Most people we work with are either scared of her, or don't care for her pompus attitude. We started off as the same level and worked our way up the chain somehow or another. I have been manager over her for over a year. When i ask her to do something she says no or sends someone else to do it. She clocks in and will do school work for a few hours lounge around and then clock out, and sometimes when she is late she will lie about the hours she is here. I have spoken with this employee several times and she proceeds to do the same things and give me more attitude. I have also continuously written her up and sent in employee grievances. I have spoken with my boss several times and she is aware. I am really in a pinch. I am trying my hardest to remain professional, but im ready to smack the B if you know what I mean. When is it time to go farther up the chain of command? Can you give me some PROFESSIONAL advice?

I am the manager of a County facility that is paid for by the tax payers. One of my employees suggested that they were not getting paid for all they had worked and they would like me to investigate. I told her I would , and that any findings would be amended. (those in her favor or against it). So the next day Ifollowed up with my investigation checking the times clocked in and out, and compared them with the timesheets. After going through 6 months and making copies of all the paperwork I found she had actually been overpaid 14 hrs. when i confronted her about it she was extremly rude and then proceeded to call all of her friends about it and thell them how this job is a bunch of bull s***. I think the money should be taken out of her next paycheck.
Q: Should i take it out of her next paycheck?
Q: should i bring this up to my boss and tell her how rude and uncooperative she was? Thanks

An employer cancelled my contract. He said a customer called to say I was drunk. I asked which customer. No answer. It doesn't make sense. My customers are out having a good time. They could care less if I drink. But here's the thing. I don't.. If I was inappropriate I would take the hit but I was not. Several other vendors have cancelled using the same reason. I don't understand! I think I know who did it but I can't prove it. What should I do? I 'm losing money.
