I have a GCSE in Child Development and have worked in different career sectors since leaving school - but my burning desire is still to look after children, but in an adoption / care / foster home. Can anyone help me out as to what qualifications I would even need just to get a job in that kind of a work environment. Anyone know/suggestions very much appreciated!

By your question.....I'm not sure if you are wanting to be a foster-care parent or want to work with children placed in state care?

There are plenty of group homes and county facilities that care for children that are wards of the state. The best place to contact is your county mental health department. Many of those jobs require some child education courses and some require a bachelors degree...all depending what job one takes.

Good for you....there are so many kids who need support! Good luck!

Easy - go on any job search engine like hotjobs or monster, and type in the job you want - for example, type in "adoption" or "foster" as the search keyword. Check the listings that come up, and see what the requirements are for the various positions.
