I already know it's unfair...but I was curious if other companies were like this or even if the Dept of Labour would have a say...basically I have been at a job with a private company for 3 years now, and I have recieved an average raise of $.90/hour each year. I have become aware that new hires have been started at a higher pay than I did so that the latest group (hired in December) still makes $.25 more per hour than me! Some of my colleagues have earned smaller raises too so are earning even less! You know your seniority is useless if you would literally be better off re-applying than being loyal. Am I right to be furious?

The job interviews I have been to the employers have always noticed this year long gap between my leaving school after the G.C.S.E's and looking for work, they ask me why and I can't answer.I was ill to the point where I was confined to the house for months, but if I said that they'd ask why and I can't answer,I don't know why,the doctors didn't know and after 10 months the symptoms vanished before they could be pin pointed.I'm sure that sounds strange to you the readers,so how can I explain that to a potential employer, they become very suspicious at that point and i'm pretty sure it's blown two of my chances so far.

There's another place I've been waiting to take a test at. Since I've been unemployed, my funds have been draining. So I applied at a Temp agency and finally got a notice to take a test for the place I really want to work at. I still want to be able to work at the Temp agency if I need them in the future but if things work out with the other place I may only be with them a month or so. What should I do?

My office is getting shut down in a few months. Everyone here is out of a job. Some people have found a new job already. I'm somewhat looking, we get a good severance package if we stay til the office shuts down. But I find myself unmotivated, playing on the web (like Yahoo Questions) half the day. Any tips on how to keep a decent work ethic til the bitter end if need be?

I ask this, because recently I was selected to work in an IT company as Project Director. I was interviewed several times by the CEO, in all of those times I impressed him with my knowledge, disposition, awareness and boldness to give a solution to his problems.

But, we he'd invite me to lunch to discuss my salary, bonus, business cards, etc. He asked me more questions, at all times I always answered with the truth.

He asked me why I left a company, in which he has one acquaintance, I told him that I got into personal problems with a fellow coworker and I was fired due to my lack of productivity.

Since that day, the CEO call me and told me that several facts were needed to clarify. He told me that he spoke with his acquaintance at the company I used to work, and this person told him that even though I was real good at work, I had several personal issues that made me a bad decision.

Of course the outcome was that I was not hired because I told the truth, did I act wrong??

I stutter and no one will hire me. I call for jobs and when they hear me talk they make excuses like the job is filled or something like that.

Ok I'm trying to find out about a couple of things. I'm 22, live in NYC, my dream is in the film business (acting/writing, etc), I have a completed script I'm showcasing at the moment, however it is a hard business to break into so I'm also working on a "back-up plan" in case things take too long of don't go as planned -- Business Administration or Medical Billing.

I like Medical Billing because you can take that for just 1-2 years and start making $35K +, but I also love Business Admin cuz there's a lot more flexibility as the degree is generic but they say you need a BACHELORS in it to really get anything out of it. Maybe if I was 18 or 19, I wouldnt mind studying something for 4 years, but I'm 22 and don't wanna waste 4 years studying a high end degree while making $12-$15 an hour at some non-degree job, you feel me? Gotta get into the $20s + an hour, thats the only way to live. Is it possible to start an associates degree work while u finish the other 2 years?

Does it give me an upper hand if i register with more job agencies( reed, hays etc)??..or is it better to stick to one place??...
While on a registration interview with the job agencies, i have been asked if i have registered with any other agencies. if i answer a yes to them, would that discourage them to lookup a job for me or would that encourage them to look for a job for me faster

I work for a tech company that is being acquired by a much larger one.

I have been working as a full time contractor for a couple of months, but for the past couple of weeks, my boss has been "meaning to" give me full time employee status with benefits. We at least have an oral agreement.

He just told me that if the acquire takes place, "things could happen", and if I was to be dropped, I would get a month's worth of severance pay.

I feel like I'm getting royally screwed. What options do I have? (no pun intended)

My boyfriend has been working for a business for 6 months. He was supposed to get an evaluation and a raise at 3 months, along with all of the other employees. He has still not received his raise or evaluation. He knows that his raise is .85 cents but there is a guy that just said today that he is getting a .75 raise and has only been there for 3 weeks. My boyfriend has always been praised for his work there by the bosses. Also, he started out at .25 cents lower than a driver but now he is a driver, should he be bumped up to meet their wages? He is very confused and doesn't know his options. The bosses just keep saying, soon, soon. If we do need to eventually call the Labor Board, when will we know?

How would you advertise this...
WHAT SHOULD I WRITE???...

Mothers’ day is coming (May 13th, America) , please tell me, is this a good idea, I sell Avon and my brother gave me this idea... (He said it would work for the men who just don't know what to get... and the men who work too late to go shopping...) make gift baskets... and do a "build your own basket" or a “You pick the price” where you tell me what you want in the basket and I put it together. And charge...

Ex.
Small basket: $2.50 plus the cost of the Avon products.
Medium basket: $3.50 plus the cost of the Avon products.
Large basket: $4.50 plus the cost of the Avon products.

Do you think this would work???

would it work in a small town???

PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE OUT WHAT TO WRITE!!!!

To say I hate my job is a gross understatement. I am admistrative assistant. It is most mindnumbing experience of my life. When the pace was busier I was told I was doing an excellent job. I was busy, but bored. The job lacks challenge. My contempt for my position is beginning to show in my work. I have one member of the staff often confuses snide remarks as wit. Another feels it is her appointed duty to belittle every woman in the office. The senior partner feels Glenn Close’s caharacter in The Devil Wears Prada is someone to aspire.

I majored on writing in college. A bad marriage, and a hasty departure precluded me from finishing my education. Satan’s menion, aka my ex-husband, destroyed my writing samples. I exceled in all of my writing courses. I’m back were I started before school. What now?

Does anyone one how much a job at a retail job at a store in Michigan pays? Like a cashier at a dept. store or clothing store. I used to work in as a bank teller, but I can't seem to find a job in that arena right now. I have applied to other random jobs here and there, but times are tough right now in MI, so I am thinking about just going to the mall and finding something there. I am asking this though, because I want to know if the pay is even worth it, before I waste my time applying. Any other ideas are welcome...

For every immigrant that has a job their is an American who is in abject poverty involuntarily so!
