My boyfriend has been working for a business for 6 months. He was supposed to get an evaluation and a raise at 3 months, along with all of the other employees. He has still not received his raise or evaluation. He knows that his raise is .85 cents but there is a guy that just said today that he is getting a .75 raise and has only been there for 3 weeks. My boyfriend has always been praised for his work there by the bosses. Also, he started out at .25 cents lower than a driver but now he is a driver, should he be bumped up to meet their wages? He is very confused and doesn't know his options. The bosses just keep saying, soon, soon. If we do need to eventually call the Labor Board, when will we know?

I'm afraid that the bosses are afraid of his potential. As in potentially replacing them someday. He has completed 3 certificates through training and is about to complete a fourth. This is the fastest anyone has done this.

This is a type of matter he should directly communicate with his boss or he should walk. In this day & age with the cost of everything going up, if your boyfriend is worth his weight for his services, his boss will see the merit in giving the raise he duly deserves. If his boss is in a pinch, then losing him will cost him more than the raise. Losing a sale costs twice as much as paying a worker more, trust me.

Obviously, your boyfriend should have a contigency plan in case things go poorly, but it's up to him to feel out what the situation is.

The increases you mentioned make it sound like he's pretty replaceable. I didn't mean to offend, but if that's the case, then it might be another story.

It's best not to wait -- DOCUMENT EVERYTHING !!!

In the meantime, immediately go to the labor board and have a little chat.
