Absolutely. It's respectful and they should appreciate your honesty.
If you just show up late without calling, they may be upset when you walk in the door.

In my experience...supervisors ALWAYS appreciate if you give them a quick call and explain that you'll be late and that you will not have a problem catching up with any work that you may have missed. Offering to stay a little late to cover the time you missed always helps too. It's best to let them know rather than show up late with no explanation.

Give them a call - it show's you're atleast reliable about that. We are all late at one point or another, but if you barelly ever show up on time, maybe you can talk to him about adjusting your work hours.

If at all possible, call and tell them why. If you are stuck in traffic due to bad weather and don't have a cell phone, then you won't be able to since there are very few pay phones available to use.

I defiantly think you should call, I don't necessarily think you have to say why. It is disrespectful to just show up late.

You should call, it is proactive - so they are aware of the situation, instead of just flat out getting pissed off because you are not there yet.

Call, it is really disrespectful to not inform someone, be it boss or friend if you are delayed.
