The source below gives information on employee rights:
______
PERSONAL NOTE: Your loyalty to the company may have been challenged by a colleague or co-worker who may be your replacement if you begin a tug-of-work with a supervisor. I believe the term used is insubordination if one refuses to follow a directive of a superior in the company.
Insubordination is the act of a subordinate deliberately disobeying a lawful order. Insubordination is typically a punishable offence in hierarchical organizations which depend on people lower in the chain of command to do as they are told. The term does not cover behaviours like bad work ethics, voicing complaints, or refusing to perform an action that is not safe, ethical, or legal.
The excerpt above is from the second source below.
Know what the consequences of failure to perform may be. You will not be eligible for unemployment compensation benefits if you walk out due to differences that are within company policies and procedures.

Yes, it's just like you calling one of your people to cover someone's shift, did you try telling her you had stuff planned? But I guess that would matter only if there was someone else she could call up.
