There's another place I've been waiting to take a test at. Since I've been unemployed, my funds have been draining. So I applied at a Temp agency and finally got a notice to take a test for the place I really want to work at. I still want to be able to work at the Temp agency if I need them in the future but if things work out with the other place I may only be with them a month or so. What should I do?

A lot of companies hire from the temp agencies. It's kind of like a trial...if you work out they will hire you as a full time employee. The temp agencies expect this and if you are a good worker the temp agency will use you again if you find yourself needing another job. Go for it, you have nothing to lose.

I have temp'd for a lot of years. When my kids were younger, I did it just to get out of the house. Once they were in school, I temp'd during the school year.

They understand some people are looking for 'perm' positions and are doing this until the 'right' one come along. Be honest with them. Let them know up front exactly what you are wanting. They should not have a problem with this. If they do --- find another agency!!!

You have to go for both.

The temp agency to get your income now. The agencies understand that people leave when they get hired full time/permanent at other places.

You don't know how long it will take, after your test, to get hired at the other job that you want.
