The job interviews I have been to the employers have always noticed this year long gap between my leaving school after the G.C.S.E's and looking for work, they ask me why and I can't answer.I was ill to the point where I was confined to the house for months, but if I said that they'd ask why and I can't answer,I don't know why,the doctors didn't know and after 10 months the symptoms vanished before they could be pin pointed.I'm sure that sounds strange to you the readers,so how can I explain that to a potential employer, they become very suspicious at that point and i'm pretty sure it's blown two of my chances so far.

You were taking care of personal issues which have been resolved and will not effect your current work.

You have to give a reason, and there's nothing wrong with being vague and explaining that you had some medical issues you had to take care of. Period. You can even politely say that you'd rather not go into detail if you're pressed further --and then quickly change the subject by adding that you're perfectly healthy now and fully capable of being a productive team member/employee.

Or you can make up a story and stick to it--say you wanted to take some time off to travel, say you had a sick family member that needed your care, say whatever you want.

But you have to have an explanation--or else they're going to assume that you were in rehab or just partying or doing some other thing that makes you a bad candidate for the job. Being too vague or evasive makes you look untrustworthy--pretty much the worst thing if you're trying to get a job. Just be open and seem genuine and confident.

Answer truthfully. You had some health issues and needed to focus your attentions on this. No need to go into details. Mention that you are healthy now and want to get back into the workforce.

Good Luck.

surely all you need to say is that u were ill for some time. you needn't go into detail about ur illness. if the employer is decent, they shd understand- if not u may be better off somewhere else

I think you should tell the truth and say you were ill. Any respectable employer will understand and not require details.
