I've worked for a small but successful company for the last two years. I have autonomy and freedom to work at my pace. I have a close business relationship with my boss and often advise him on business transactions, client questions and plans, all of which he takes full credit for. Along with handling operations and sometimes being asked to do things that an assistant's intern would peform! Yet, I am being severly underpaid and when I discuss salary and benefits (ie, no option for 401K, lousy health insurance) I am told what I want to hear but it nevers happens.

I have decided to resign in the next few months (and can't wait!). I've been proactively entertaining job opportunties but also want to be fair about leaving. It's a small company and when I leave all the EXTRA things that I've done, along with my regular work duties might be neglected until they find someone. I want to resign on a high note, but I want to leave NOW. Is giving no less than 2 wks no more than 2 mos fair?

If you work in IT support or IT help desk, how do you deal with angry end-users or unreasonable end-users?
If you feel you are getting too much from end-users, are you in the wrong field or am I the only one who feel that way from time to time?

Hi I recently joined a training group that does on the job training and one of the options I chose was ChildCare the lady rang me back today and said she has found an employer that wants someone and is doing interveiws. So i said I was Inerested and she said she will ring the company and get back to me. She got back to me a few minutes later and said the employer seems happy and is doing interveiws. The thing is the manager of this nursery used to work at the nursery I was at for a few months. But She left before I did and she asked my Advisor why I left and she told her I wasnt getting enough work and experiance from them so I left. The thing is I left because I didnt like the hours I worked there and the girls I worked with use to give me a hard time. The think is I really want this Job but what shall I say if she asks me why I left the other nursery as she will obviously know that the training is quite good there. Its was just that the centre I was doing my NVQ

Are there employers out there that are looking for people to assist with routine-type tasks at home? Also, is there work you can do at home with minimal skill that can be learned in a short period of time? I am looking for legitimate work ideas only.

I graduated from high school in 2004 and attempted to go to school, but I ended up dropping out several times due to my anxiety problems. I have spent the last few years taking care of my disabled parents so I really haven't had the time to work. I really would like to go back now, but I can't because I am no longer eligable for finacial aid. So I am trying to figure out a job that I could get with just a high school diploma. I am a young newlywed and my husband is struggling to support the both of us on his salary. I would love a job where I work with computers (typing, making websites, ect). I don't really want to be on my feet all day because I have back problems. Only serious answers please. I am also interested to know if anybody knows of a quiz to help you figure out what job would be best for you.

I've been home on disability for a while, and I want to get back to work.

Physically demanding jobs are totally out, as I'm still somewhat physically weak, and cannot stand or walk long distances.

I need to work to get out of the house and be with others, rather than staying home. It's too depressing!

What jobs would you recommend for someone just getting back on their feet work-wise?

Thanks.

I was recently terminated from a job. When I am honest about it, I get no interview and no contact back. When I lie about it, i get an interview and an offer although I haven't taken anything yet. I know down the road it could lead to termination if they were to find out... but isn't it illegal for the previous employer to disclose that information?

for 5 months (I'm an ongoing temp secretary) and I still have not received my proper contract. I did get one, but it was not typed on official company headed paper. I have asked my manager time and time again for this (which will only take her all of 2 minutes to print from the computer), but still have not received it. I rang her last week and asked her if I can come and see her to pick it up and also to hand in my weekly timesheet. She said that if she wasn't there, to just put my timesheet under the door. I went over at the agreed time and knocked 3 times. There was no answer. I noticed a keyhole in her door and looked though it. There she was sat there large as life! I felt so rejected and all I could do was just put my weekly timesheet under the door. Why is she being so nasty?

I am going to the Art Institute of Las Vegas and I have been getting interested in Sound Design. Like doing sound for movies and other things like that. I was just wondering if anyone had any info or suggestions on how to pursue a career in sound. I know there might not be many jobs in Las Vegas, but California would be good too.
