You know what? I had the same additude when I was your age. I did NOT want to be a cashier! But after applying at every store in the mall and getting turned down, I ended up applying to Chick Fil A. It was the best thing that ever happened to me! I had such a blast working there! I would go back and work there the rest of my life if I could afford the pay cut!! :) I ended up working there for a little over 4 years.

My first job was as a bank teller. It was really easy, all you have to do is learn the bank's computer programs and be polite to your customers. It paid better than a lot of other starter jobs out there and I was able to move up in another bank and use the experience from those jobs to get the one I have now. I was able to work part time and go to school, and full time when I was on vacation.

My first job was as an air force airman. But when I got out I had to take on odd jobs until I found a real job. I worked in the mail room of a newspaper, fast food, retail, and for a maid service. They weren't glamorous but they paid the rent.

Lots of people have first jobs at retail stores (there are many jobs other than cashiers) or restaurants. Good luck.

Wes. Be a pooper scooper. Seriously.

Do it in your spare time, you charge anywhere from $10-18 per yard. It takes you 10 minutes to clean the yard.

We run a very successful company doing just that... it takes little to nothing to start (some fliers at local vets offices, etc.) and you're good!

If you're interested in saving for college, I'd recommend a food server position (waiter, not slinging burgers). If you're good (and in that profession, whether you're good at customer service makes all the difference), you can make excellent money and save for college.

Start something in what you like, like if you look to cook, try to start in a restaurant, like clothes, try some of your favorite retail stores.
