That is a very low salary when you have been working for the company for 4 years.

Don't let them treat you like this. You don't have to be loyal to a company, they wouldn't think twice about dropping you if the company got into trouble. Go and work somewhere there they will pay you properly. You don't owe your boss anything more than the 8 hours a day you work for them.

So many people let their companies treat them badly, you are not alone but there is no need for it.

I would have thought you should be on £14000 or so.

Hi good on you for working so hard and having all those qualifications, but at the end of the day you have a job and as long as the employer is paying you national minimum wage or higher he is ok in doing so. You are 19 and are getting quite a bit of money more than most 19 year olds who have qualifications, but i do agree you wage maybe should go up when you get to 22 like everyone else who gets national minimum wage does. Am i right your not far of getting a grand a month wage for the company you work for you are only 19 my brother was just getting that annd hes 28. So you want to count yourself very lucky.

If I were you I would start casually looking to see what else is out there. You will get a better idea of whether your salary is reasonable for what you do in the area that you live. Your boss is only going to compensate you for what he/she feels is the minimum that they can offer you without losing you. Perhaps if you were offered something else, you could negotiate a high salary with your current employer. If your position is valued they will be willing to work with you. If not; you had better be prepared to take the other offer. Your working relationship will not be on the same level.

As for the loyalty, while it is commendable, you will not get additional pay, your employer expects that from you. Just remember if the situation was reversed, your employer would not be showing you the same amount of loyalty. Look out for yourself; if you feel you deserve more then start your search realizing that you will probably be leaving the company that you work for.

Good Luck.

You are over the basic wage for your age, so don't complain, just take your time, get more experience, hopefully your pay will go up if you live in Britain the annual wage reviews are coming up in April., Just remember, while u have been working you have be gaining your qualifications, if you change employers you could be on a lower wage than u are now. If u want to, try going in for the level 3 NVQ's as this will be in your interest if u wish to improve your income.

My daughter works as a supervisor in an office and has been working for 6 years and gets less than you.

Don't be too hasty in your decisions.

I think you should go to university while you are still young and use your work experience to get on an Accountancy and Finance Bsc (hons) course

You will have so much fun for the next 3-4 years- you have the rest of your life to be working 9-5.

Plus when you finish the course you can get a job with a starting salary of between £21k-£24k and you will get promoted quickly on the fast track

Your age goes against you when seeking higher wages.I know this sounds unfair but you have the choice of seeking higher pay, putting forward a case to your boss for a raise or staying as you are.Work is a competitive market where discovering your options is a choice you have.Loyalty is a good virtue but not always appropriate.

You could probably earn alot more somewhere else. You mention, you don't want to let the company down, well aren't' they letting you down? Many companies look for people like you with experience and longevity. Start looking, You will find something that pays much more and appreciate you.

First rule of work, don't you think if they could find someone who could do your job for less money they would sack you? They would! So don't feel any loyalty to them.
Explain to your boss how you feel, maybe find some advertised jobs for people with your experience and show him how much is being offered to them, then suggest he match it or you will go elsewhere.

At 19 you are young, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't earn what you're worth. Your employer apparently values your work according to your age, not your ability. You probably need to move on if you want to make more money.
