Does anyone know anything about Careers in Sound Design?

I am going to the Art Institute of Las Vegas and I have been getting interested in Sound Design. Like doing sound for movies and other things like that. I was just wondering if anyone had any info or suggestions on how to pursue a career in sound. I know there might not be many jobs in Las Vegas, but California would be good too.
