I do not use any kind of illegal drugs, but I am required to take a drug test for a major career change for a very large company. Is there any foods or legal medications (nyquil, ephedra, etc) that will trigger 'false positive' test results? Also, I am not sure which drugs they will be testing for. I'm asking this because I am fearful if I come up with a 'positive' result, they will automatically assume that I use illegal drugs. Thanks in advance.

Last summer I hired three employees to pick some berries for me. One day one of the men brought their wife without letting me know and I had never seen nor hired her. She said she broke her ankle while at work at my field. I had no knowledge she was even their nor did I ever hired her.Now she's claiming I must pay her compensation and she has gone as far as hiring a lawyer. One of the other gentlemen there told me she arrived after I had left and was already limping!she claims she broke her ankle while working at my berry field.she once came over asking for 2000$ saying that it would be sufficiant and I denied her.now she's suing but I never even employed her or asked her to be at my place. It sounds like a way to try me to give her cash but I never even authorized her being there much less work. what should I do. I know I can win but hiring a lawyer is too expensive.I dont have much $ but she somehow thinks I do Im just trying to get by paying for school what can i do

My girlfriend works in a supermarket and her boss stopped the direct deposit of her check because he wanted to ask her about a few minor things that she voided on her register. He didnt tell her about this and was off work for 2 days, so she got her check 3 days late. The voids turned out to be completely valid, so it was pointless and unfair in my opinion. But was it legal?

Most people in entry level jobs (at least from just starting out and going throught training) are 4-5 years younger then me. I desired to start years earlier but I couldn't due to some personal reasons. I know really it's never to late to begin your career but I just feel stressed and down over it. I feel those 4 years (on average) were wasted. I shouldn't (but I do) compare myself to others? Has anyone ever felt this way? Has anyone compared themselves to others? Any advice?

I am an auditor and working to be a CPA. I am not happy at accounting and auditing, and I want to do something else, like personal training, bartending (I am bartending a few parties this weekend for the first time), and physical therapy. I also like to read about food and exercising. Should I take the leap and study to do these things? or stick it out with being a CPA? I have a mortgage so I need a stable career with a decent salary. I don't have the pre-req's for the physical therapy so that might take a long time to pursue.

I know they can give you less than $7.15 an hour if you work in a resturant or something if you are supposed to get tips. What is it?

And how does this effect what you put on your taxes as income earned?

I dated someone from my workplace 2 years ago. After we broke up I was constantly worried he would start dating one of the other girls sitting next to my cubicle that I worked with on a daily basis. For years after the breakup I had to put up with the hurt of seeing him flirt with the girl sitting next to me at work. I finally left the company so don't have to deal with it anymore but it was a nightmare. It was too hurtful the close proximity of him flirting with someone that worked right next to me that I had to see on a daily basis. Work is a great place to meet guys. How could I still date guys at work in the future but avoid this situation (the possibility that he will date someone I work with on a daily basis after the break up)? It's hard enough going through a breakup. Imagine if the love of your life started dating or got married to your co-worker sitting next to you?

I worked one day at a pet store, loved the work (but had to find something else - I support myself and my home - $7/hr wasn't going to cut it.) Then I was offered a job at an eye surgen's office which paid more and offered benefits (I really need). The day of my interview with the surgen, the pet store kept leaving me (and my roommate) messages saying that I missed work (they never told me I had to work that day). They called about 3 times that day and 2 the next morning. So, any way, I started there immediately at the surgen's office. Well, my schedule was extremely hectic the last couple days since all of this began and I actually missed work at the pet store today. I was going to go and quit, telling them I had an opportunity I couldn't pass (true). But they keep calling... now, I don't know if I should even bother with it at all or if I should just leave it as is and enjoy the new job? I liked the pet store, but they only scheduled me 8 hours in a week. Just leave is? What to do?

we were signing up for classes for next year in highschool and i wanted to take this medical class, well my mom was just like oh i dont think you need to take that because your not going to do anything in the medical career and i told her that i was really interested in it and she said no you should just take the business accounting classes because thats what all your family does and you wont make it into any medical career and you wont be interested in it. im really smart and i have a 4.0 gpa but my mom is just crushing my dreams and is all like you should just take the accounting and if i do take the medical classes then she isnt going to help me any by taking me to the hospital or anything. it makes me so mad because im not interested in that! im sorry this is so long but yeah i just wanted some opinions. thanks!

Employers are picky as hell. They only want to hire people who like being bent over and without saying a word. I read in a magazine once that hiring managers are now being trained to noticed people with defensive personalities during the interview by asking questions that bother these type of people. One being "I don't understand why you want this job?"

Like I said employers don't like people who are "hard" and know how to defend themselves from abuse whether physical or mental.

One last thought are you single and childless? The reason is that employers don't like to hire people who don't have responsibilities outside themselves. The reason is that they know that if the going gets tough, regardless of the reason, they are more likely to jump ship.

What do you guys think?
