I am currently working in a billion dollar company where there are a good benefits and pretty stable. What to expect working in a small family owned business? Is it a good idea to move there?

Good - they treat you like family
Bad - they treat you like family

Smaller companies can rarely match larger corporations in pay, benefits and (usually) advancement opportunities.

On the other hand, you are likely to have a larger impact in a smaller company, and more flexibility in how you do your job.

None of these are unbreakable rules, YMMV. The decision depends a lot on what you want out of your work..
