I resigned from my job in the state of florida and gave my employer two weeks notice. They turned around and asked me to leave 1 week early but they're not going to pay me through my notice. Is that legal on their part, do I have any recourse??

I work for a small non-profit with a staff of only 5 people. My direct supervisor is a chauvinistic, ridiculously conservative man. He is nosy about my personal business and feels that he can come into my office at any time to talk about my personal life. Regardless of my behavior or quality of work, he can always do something better, know someone better, or find some kind of flaw in my work. He has taken projects away from me when I was three-quarters of the way done with them, and then taken credit for my work.

I am applying to graduate school and will be done with this job in the summer *hopefully* if I am accepted. I just need some advice on how to deal with him for the next five months. Other than my experience with him, I love where I work, and I supremely enjoy all of my other coworkers. Two of my coworkers have found other jobs because they dislike the way the organization is going since my boss started. They will be leaving in February... so sad!

I am applying for a job online and they are asking my if I have customer contact experience. I know this job is a call center type job, I have NO call center experience. Are they asking me if I have call center experience or are they just asking me if I have worked with the public in my previous jobs, (Which I have a lot.) I know this is a stupid question but I would like an answer if you have one.

I've had a grip of jobs in the past - and I've never stayed long with any of them. I always find myself getting bored and not connecting with anyone. I just don't understand who some people can start a job and everyone welcomes them... and then I start and people go about like it's a normal day. Maybe I'm not professional enough? I don't know. Basically when I start work, I just work. I don't stop and socialize. I feel that if I were to socialize with other employees I may not be taken seriously. I guess I really don't understand the work place. Anyone have any advice on how I can keep a job longer and fit in?

My husband and I live in Florida, and my husband has been unemployed for 8 mo. He's searched all over the country for work and can find nothing. He has noticed several positions that he qualifies for in England. We are ready to do just about anything to get back on our feet. We've never even been out of the country. Has anyone been in a similiar situation and how did you feel about leaving the US for work?

How can you find out all your previous home addresses as well as your work history if you can't recall all of it? My husband is applying for a law enforcement position and they want all of this and we have been told leaving anything out will count against you, any ideas on how to make sure we don't leave anything out?

I hold degrees in Business Administration & Human Resource Management and have many, many years of management experience in the corporate world & also in the not-for-profit & government sector and, have been sort of semi-retired and now am looking for a full time position. I can handle many types of opportunities and I am looking in the Northern/Northwest counties of New Jersey & Southern New York state county areas, and am very interested also in the Roanoke, (Southwest) VA area. Does anyone have any leads? I am on all the major online job boards (Monster, etc.), and would appreciate any direct employment leads. Thanks.

I find that I sometimes just get this look of astonishment...

I don't want to dumb-down my answers, but I am learning that there are a lot of DUMB people in the world.

My hobbies are Photography, Egyptology, studying Haiku's, Reading, working on models, Sculpture, and I collect Hatori's and Obi's.

(the egyptology thing always freaks them out and so does the haiku's, and the obvious question of what are hatori's and obi's).

-it actually gives me a chance to explain some of my life to them when I explain what these things are... I kind of like that little break- and it makes MY INTERVIEW a little more personal. I was also told to make an impression that they will remember...

should i just start saying something like "shopping, family and friends"?

once i get the job, won't they know about me anyways?

i think it is important to be honest, I also think that it is important to sound smart.

I don't think that these make me sound all that over- the -edge, do you ???

I work fulltime at a job that doesnt pay that well...it pays my bills but thats pretty much all it does. Its not even in an industry that will help me advance in my career which is acting!

here's my plan:

find a new job that pays more money so that I can save more so that by Jan 2008 I can have enough money saved to cover my expenses which will then allow me to work only part time and have more time to devote towards my acting career.

I am having a hard time finding the motivation to go to work every morning and since i havent found that great paying job YET, I cant really use the money as motivation bc the money is not good...NOW if I had my great paying job already and was one step closer to fulfilling my goals I feel that I would be more easily motivated.

can you please offer advice to help me get out of bed each morning? stop missing days, being late, and so that I can have a more positive attitude about working which in turn will probably help me attract my new job
