I work fulltime at a job that doesnt pay that well...it pays my bills but thats pretty much all it does. Its not even in an industry that will help me advance in my career which is acting!

here's my plan:

find a new job that pays more money so that I can save more so that by Jan 2008 I can have enough money saved to cover my expenses which will then allow me to work only part time and have more time to devote towards my acting career.

I am having a hard time finding the motivation to go to work every morning and since i havent found that great paying job YET, I cant really use the money as motivation bc the money is not good...NOW if I had my great paying job already and was one step closer to fulfilling my goals I feel that I would be more easily motivated.

can you please offer advice to help me get out of bed each morning? stop missing days, being late, and so that I can have a more positive attitude about working which in turn will probably help me attract my new job

Volunteer doing something you love. It will help recharge your batteries. Perhaps you should get a better paying day job and volunteer to do acting work instead.

Been there and done that (in fact to a degree Im in the same boat but it looks like I've lined up a better position soon).

All you can do is bust your butt to get the next job, there is very little that will motivate you to go to your current job apart from the fact that life would be a LOT worse if you lost your current job.

A job is a lot easier to find if you are working rather than not working.

So bust your *** to get the next gig and do enough to keep the job you have, as whilst it isnt much money its better than none at all.

I guess you could role-play with yourself (if you act) about how life would be tough if you didnt have any job currently...see how that makes you feel.

At 22 years old anything you want, you have infinite potential so use it, a few tips- Write down the 10 things you want to have in life within the next twelve month, carry this list with you ALL the time. Do NOT tell anyone about it, they will try and de-rail your goals, pour cold water on your dreams, and try and talk you out of it, it's human nature, the bigger success you are the bigger failure they will feel. Do not be modest about your objectives, aim high, check the list every day, stick with it. Never take free advice it's too expensive! Always thank people who help you. To most people the fear of failure is a bigger influence than the opportunity of success. Homer Simpson advised Bart "Trying is the first step on the road to failure", most people think like this , if you do change. Mix with winners not losers. Go with your gut instinct. If you "fail" so what, the man who never made a mistake NEVER made anything, start again, NEVER give up.

Well, it may help to focus on the temporary nature of the situation. There's even an article on the Yahoo homepage about looking for a new job. But - you still NEED these people not to say bad things about you if they are called for a reference. Of course it is difficult to keep at it when you so wish you were somewhere else. And it does sound like you are taking steps to get out of there (that's good!) BUT, while the pay ain't great, it doesn't sound like you've got creditors calling you and the landlord ready to boot you out. Try to be grateful that this position provides that much for you - and get yourself a new gig.

Best of luck.

Actually, it sounds like you have your motivation already. Your future career as an actor/actress.

You have to pay for the acting classes. That should keep you working. Maybe you can turn your job into a place to practice your acting skills.

Even if your the starbucks clerk. You could practice different facial expressions, and voices. See how people respond.

Personally, I get out of bed everyday so that I can take care of my animals. They rely on me.

Best of Luck ....... Break a Leg!

I know it is very difficult. But think about this job as a stepping stone.
I would ask myself what are the things I like about the job. It could be your co-workers. or something about the job. See what aspect of the job you can improve or is there a room for improvment, do not think of the money aspect

Do *you* enjoy the work at all? If you can find a way to be a star in the work you're doing now, then bosses in future work, who look at your past work record (and possibly even contact your current employer), which they might (and as in my case did) will look with favor on your starring role!

I was in your place once and found Zig Ziggler. It helped me at the time.

Today, I would encourage you to get involved with the "Laws of Attraction". Most of us who indulge, call it the Secret.

I'll leave it up to you to find it, I have the movie and watch it over and over. I believe in the Secret and you will too if, you follow it.
