Is the criminal background check done during or before the training? I will have to go to Chicago for training and I would hate to go and find out I did not pass the background check and be sent home. I have blemishes on my record (no felonies) but one accusation of felony but cleared by a jury 11 years ago...Im afraid I will not pass and all the effort to pass the interviews have been in vain...Thank you for helping me!

So what terminology shall I use to explain my 14 months as a stay at home dad. I don't want to be smart-a s s about it and say "domestic engineer" or "organizational executive" but I feel that I have to put something down. Believe me it is a job in and of itself which I want to quit and go work with adults again. "Stay at home dad" sounds too wussy so any suggestions will do. And of course, I can take a joke so all you who wants to be a comedian yahoos...give me your best. Serious suggestions will get 1% of first years salary if I eventually use it.

I am joking of course about the $$.

Thanks for your help.

My re-certification is coming up on January 27th and in california you have to have 48 hours for every 2 years. My current job hardly gives us any. Does anyone know where I can get some inservices? I really want to get this done in time so I don't need to pay the late fee. Thanks! Also must be ok for california. They don't allow online inservices as far as I can tell.If anyone knows differently please let me know.

I'm currently an engineer for a large company. The problem is the nature of my job is very stressful and lots of tension. After a day hard at work, all I could think of is to quit.

I've been offered a position at a different and much smaller company. The problem I'm not sure it's a wise choice moving from large to smaller company. Because I'm afraid I won't be able to join another large company again. Should wait and find another position at my current company or accept the new offer? I really don't know what to do.

I worked as a union carpenter for 13 years. There were many things that I loved about the industry - like the pride I felt every time I walked by a building that I had helped put up.

And there were things I hated about the industry - the lack of job security and the high risk of injuries. I ended up having to leave the carpentry business due to a knee injury (I'm a middle school special ed teacher now)

Would you recommend carpentry as a good career choice?

And do you think a person coming into the carpentry field would be better off as a member of the Carpenters Union, or working as a non union carpenter?

Also, do you think the large number of immigrant carpenters coming into the trade and working at very low wages makes carpentry a bad career choice?

I do not know which career path I would like to take. I have all sorts of interests and cannot decide on just one. The fields that I am interested in is: social worker, interior designing, photography, music production, legal assistant, or a teacher of some sort.

If you are in any of the listed fields above, will you tell me how you feel about your career, pro/cons, if it pays well and special skills required to be successful in the field?

If your career isn't listed above, but you love what you do, your suggestions are welcomed as well. Thank You!

When the woman (from the staffing agency) explained it to me on the phone it sounds like a personal assistant or administrative assistant position but I can't be sure until tomorrow morning. I know Objectives are suppose to be clear but I don't have a clear idea of the job I'm applying for... what do I do??

We were understaffed at work today (waitress) and I had to clean and restock more than half the store's dressings and tables. So they cut me second. We were pretty dead, and I only had three tables (One had eight people, five small children)
They tell me my side work late at night, and then they change my side work halfway making me do extra stations. When I get finished with my work, I rolled ALL of the stores silverware and I vacuumed the whole store. As I'm rolling silverware, by myself, the head waitress walks over to me and tells me what a bad job I'm doing, that I need to help more with other people's orders and that I need to start my side stations early. (Early on it's hard to tell how many people are going to come in the store, so if I take my dressings away it will be futile.) So after she gives me some "pointers" she walks away. She spent all day just talking to people, never helping out herself. In my eyes, I was being complained at for not picking up other people's work
