It wouldn't be pathetic if you could have saved all of it. Real spending power of the dollar is what is pathetic. I remember Ross Perot when he was campaigning said it was worth $0.18 per dollar in real value. I have no idea what that is now, but sure it is far less. What the answer is and it is as easy as this, require Congressmen to rely on retirement from social security as the rest of us and I guarantee things will change for the common working man.

10 years ago I made $25K a year when I first bought a condo for $129K. I'm renting out that condo now for $1500 a month and it's worth over $400K.
On average if you put $2000 on a Roth IRA by 16 years of age it'll be a million bucks when you reach retirement age.

Dating, in and of itself, is not illegal. The problem is, if you have sex with him. The age difference is so egregious that a judge most certainly would want to give the guy life without parole.
