I'm currently an engineer for a large company. The problem is the nature of my job is very stressful and lots of tension. After a day hard at work, all I could think of is to quit.

I've been offered a position at a different and much smaller company. The problem I'm not sure it's a wise choice moving from large to smaller company. Because I'm afraid I won't be able to join another large company again. Should wait and find another position at my current company or accept the new offer? I really don't know what to do.

Look at the root of your problem...is it coming from a person; the type of work; or the company environment? If you wait for another position, what would that new position offer that's different from your present position? And, what if you don't get it, then what?

Look at the positive. If the position at the smaller company offers good people to work with/for...a positive working environment...and a position that you would like/want with pay/benefits/etc., that you find acceptable...then accept it and turn in your resignation asap.

One great thing about a small company is, that it gives you the opportunity to help grow it into a large one...and for that management staff to help develop a working environment that lets the staff have that small company feel, without the shackles that the big corporate types love to stick idea people and doers with...think what you could accomplish without 10 layers of corporate types above you!

I'll give you my personal opinion, anytime I took the job with
the big bucks, and the high responsibility, to gain fame and
fortune...it just about killed me. I believe those kinds of jobs
demand more than any human being can accomplish.
So I said to myself "self" what would be really FUN TO DO?
What would IIIII, memememe, (not someone else) be happiest
spending my life doing? What job would I like, that at the end
of the day I was really proud of what I had accomplished. Well,
I made some career? changes. From that moment on I felt
that all work had to feel like FUN. Work was a nasty word
to me, kick-back having fun got the job done.

Look inside the computer industry. Some of the biggest
geniuses and mega-millionaires get most of their ideas
while playing or experimenting. Work does not have to be
work--it's our employers that make work NO Fun!

It all really depends with you. In the end you have to figure out what important factors do you consider when taking a job. I do not believe it will be difficult to move from a small company to a larger one, it all depends on how you sell yourself to the potential job viewer, but one thing am a firm believer of is that you can use your present job as a negotiating tool with another firm. All in all how about taking the pro and cons of each and weigh them against your feeling, i am sure you will reach a conclusive answer
