It starts in the home. If Dad idolizes sports figures, and Mom actors, that's going to trickle down to the kids. Show them REAL heroes. Take them to the fire station and meet with firefighters and policemen etc. Honor the veterans of all wars by celebrating veterans day. Learn about scientists and their contributions to our lives today. This includes nurses and paramedics etc. These are the real heroes. Most often they work for substandard pay and their work is twice as hard. The "heroes" on TV are glorified to make themselves and other entities a lot of money, period. Show them that you as a parent appreciate the real heroes in your lives. Start with your family, ie parents. Show them the sacrifices they had to make to make your life better. And if you're a religious person, a good role model would be the higher power of your religion.

More specific, please? What are you getting at, exactly?... Well "improving children's role models"..I definitely think that is a possibility...not an easy thing to do though, in the kind of world we live in today ;)

It's just something we have to do as people and parents. I think it'll take a lot of time to actually get rid of the negative influences. We should just prepare them on how to handle influences.
