Quit and find something else. I know it sucks having to start over somewhere else. I've been working at this place for several years now and most of the people have either been laid off or left. My wife wants us to move and I hate to find another job and lose my benefits and all that, but change is good sometimes, although you don't know what will happen and it's hard to dump something that is stable. I'm going to take the chance, hope you do too.

As difficult as it may or may not be, confront your boss and put a voice to your feelings. I would try to do this when you haven't had all day to sit and dwell on your frustration. Briefly think about what you want to say, and be assertive and clear about your concern for not getting credit for doing a job well done.
I also am unsure as to how you seem to think you are not appreciated. Are you underpaid? Are you looking for a pat on the back? Does your boss belittle you? Just thoughts to ponder. Whatever the answer, be clear and concise to your boss about what it is you expect, not necessarily what you deserve.

I say find another job. Other wise you will get stressed to the max and develop a big bad case of burn out. If you allow yourself to get to this point, you may do something drastic, like walk off the job with no new job to back you up! Then you're up a creek without a paddle. Look for a new job undercover, when you have found it, turn in your resignation and wave bye bye.

Get a puppy. They ALWAYS think you're awesome!
Seriously, don't put to much weight on what your boss thinks of you. Some people just can't be pleased with anything. Start looking for a new job, but don't get stressed. It's just not worth it!

Is acknowledgment that important to you? As long as I get raises when I should, I can care less if my boss says I do a good job.

Get use to it, I've been a part of the work force for years, and I have yet to find a genuine boss that appreciates me.

get used to it most bosses only notice when you screw up. why should he notice when you do your job right... he hired you to do it right and you are... he is still paying you ain't he.... you had a deal when you started he said you do your job right i will pay you.. so why do you expect extra for doing what he is expecting you to do.. do you ever tell him "boss i am sure glad you gave me my check on time" "sure glad the check cleared this week boss" no he is doing his job by paying you and you don't tell him wow boss nice job giving me my check do you.. but you expect him to come around and tell you how nice it is that you did not screw everything up.. and that wow your doing just what i wanted when i hired you... you work for the guy he pays you for it.. so i would say he appreciates you just like he told you he would when he hired you...

Ask for a performance review. Tell him, I want to make sure I know your opinion of how I am doing. Can we scheduel a meeting to discuss my performance. If he is critical, look for anthoer job. If he issues you praise, ask for more money!!!
