I'm interested in earning some money, and I need a few ideas on ways to advertise and what I should even do! I already know and have considered baby sitting, but I was looking for something I could do in the neighborhood. Any ideas?

I need to come up with an extra $1,500. I work full time and between rent and daycare I usually have just enough left over for a few groceries. I thought about getting a second job, but with the cost of daycare, anything I could do part time wouldn't be worth it, plus I wouldn't see my son except when he was sleeping. Does anyone know of anything I could do from home thats legit to help me make some extra money?

I'm looking to become a secret shopper for restaraunts & retailers. There's a company that's been advertising online called Retail Report Card that tells you that you have to buy something before they approve you & send you out on assignments. So I'm looking for a reliable company that doesn't scam you like that or try to make you buy something before they send you out on assignments. Thanks.

For a while when I was in 4th and 5th grade I went through an obsession with horses. It's something every girl does, just a phase that's natural to go through. I'm a 12 year old in 7th grade now, and one of my best friends recently bought a 5 acre plot with a barn and 3 horses. Riding those horses made me remember how much fun it is, and how I'd love to become better at it. I understand that I'm a bit young, and the chances that I'll be able to find a job at this age is slim, but I need advice for when I'm older, too.

Coming from someone who knows horses and the business of owning them, do you think there's any way at all that someone would want to give me a chance? If I give someone a call, what do I tell them? What sort of work would they most likely be having me do? Do you think they'd consider hiring me even though I'd only be able to work on the weekends? All answers are appreciated!

Is the amount of vacation time you get per year depending on the company? My boyfriend was a contractor but has now been hired (by the same company) as a full time employee. Is he entitled to any vacation time by law? He took it upon himself to take a vacation day and charge them 8 hours, but now they are saying he doesn't get vacation pay. Please help! Any reference to laws would be helpful!

I am a full-time features writer and editor (regional and women's magazines) and I love it, (I write a lot about fashion and food - my two favorite topics) but I know business writers make more money. I would like to take some copywriting courses to boost my income. I'm a quick learner and do well with at-home studies. I taught myself to write as a living after having a career as a celebrity makeup artits.

I heard American Writers and Artist Institute is good. The at-home study course is $507. Any advice?

I have gone to some interviews and for some reason they never call back. I'm unemployed trying hard to find a job but i can't. I've gone to job interviews but let me tell ya I'm not the type of person that uses cologne ( i just use armpit deodorants ) or is super clean cut and well combed. My hair is messy cause that's how it is naturally and i don't Gel it, i also sometimes have a messy moustache.

And i don't dress super elegant when i go to interviews. However, i have not gone to places where i they dress that way either. Example: i went to a eye hospital for a filing clerk position so i just put on some nice pants and a sweater. I didn't' look really elegant but i thought it was approp.

I saw the tyra banks show where a girl couldn't get hired and they mentioned Bad breath, and being sloppy and forgetful was why she didn't get the job. I'm that way too, the bad breath is hard to control.. And i'm slow because my mind seems slow and i don't have great vocab

So what to do?

The boss who drops urgent “need this by tomorrow” projects on your desk or who calls meetings at 5pm!

Oooooh, Don’t you just love bosses like that? It’s as if they can sense you have a life outside work and they’ve determined to ruin it for you. Being continually dumped on like this at the last minute or dragged into yet another long, boring, pointless meeting when you’ve got a date and long to get home and get ready for it, needs a heart-to-heart talk and yes! I’m going to talk to him today.

I’ve made some preparation myself such as sticking to the “I” approach that is using the “I” statements, such as “I think I could do a better job if…” is less blaming and inflammatory than using “you” statements such as “You always wait until the last seconds…”

What do you think? Any more helpful advice? All your advice are truly appreciated!

If you want to check on the status of a position you're applying for, how do you ask the question if they are still reviewing you as a prospect? I spoke with the supervisor of the Dept. I will be working in at the beginning of December. She called me back & ask to fax my resume over, and was delight that I called to let them know I was available. But now it is January & I have not heard from the company. I want to call them, but not sure what to say.

Just curious on how to ask the question, if I'm still a prospect & the status of everything?
