i havent paid national insurance for seven months

You can claim Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) if you have not paid National Insurance (NI) contributions.

JSA is paid to all that meet the "means test" and only differs in that, if you have paid appropriate NI contributions you will receive JSA for 6 months without the means test being applied.

JSA is not, in the main, based on NI contributions. Income Support is only payable to those who are unable to work such as lone parents, ill health etc.

Check with your local benifit office, if your total amount of contributions over the years are too low your jobseekers would be topped up by income support.

i seem to remember someone bringing this up and saying in your position you are able to claim but i think you have a waiting period of 3 months before they pay you anything but get the Pensions Service online and you will be able to email on their own security line Good Luck
