I haven't been promoted, and I do a damn great job with my position. They give me the reason that they have budget cuts and they have to evaluation positions and wages due to their budget.

So... I'm transferring to another divison within my company starting next week, and the starting pay is much more than I make currently right now.

Well, you can have an ugly attitude about it or you can calmly speak to your boss about your perceptions. I caution you not to be argumentative, as that will only escalate to where you do NOT want to go...and your boss IS your boss... If you do nothing, it is almost certain that your morale will plummet and you will no longer do a "great job" in the perception of your bosses and, probably yourself, too. This is not something you want to let go, trust me. But, I reiterate, stay calm and non-argumentative. It sounds as if you are already a wee bit hostile about the situation.

And, yes, I believe it IS wrong to not promote someone because they are doing "too good a job". During your discussion with your boss, you may wish to offer to train your replacement. That would help to ease the fears the boss may have and proves that you are able to provide solutions. Bosses do not work alone you know. We like to deal with people who are capable of thinking at a collaborative level. Show your boss that that is YOU. Good luck.

If u feel u are being held back for a promotion,
due to your expertise in your current position.
Maybe u need to make them aware that u feel
u are being ignored and that because u are
doing a great job you should be considered
for a promotion.

That is why you have to sabotage your superiors. They like to reap the rewards for what you do.

Take no prisoners!
