So if I'm on salary, I have to work extra hours and does not get paid for it but if i miss a day or two of work then my check will be reduced b/c of the hours id idn't work? So it is possible for me to work 8 hours and not extra hours and stay on salary? because it doesn't seem fair to me that i have to work extra hours and don't get overtime. What about when i work less hours because i'm on salary?

I am currently working a "bridge job" as I decided what I want to do next in my career. I've made up my mind that I want to get into market research and am ready to quit my current job so I can focus on my job search; however, I wonder if I should wait until after the first of the year given the holidays.

I want to quit my job and get moving with my career but don't want to do anything ill-advised. Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

In an interview, when asked how much you currently make, how do you respond without telling them?? I want them to decide on an appropriate salary without knowing what my current boss pays me.

In the race that is called life are you more likely to be in 1st position knowing that others are breathin down your neck but you feel that you can handle the pressure of being 1st

OR are you one of those who feel comfortable just behind 1st and then towards the end, overtake. but you know that within this position you cannot afford to make mistakes as the gap might widen or you know you mite have to rely on mistakes on the person in front of you.

Or are you just one stuck in the middle of the race and just along nicely and gently.

Or are just last!? What position would you say u r? it might be one dat I haven't mentioned

I applied to a cosmetics department in Macy's what should I wear? How should I do my hair and my makeup? Is there anything I should bring? I heard that if you're applying for a cosmetics deparment that you should'nt wear makeup at the interview because they are going to ask you to put makeup on yourself so they can see how well you put makeup on..

do they have to put it in writing? I had my 'appraisal' after 3 months of start date, but we could not agree to my work hours and we meant to revise it after a month. There was another meeting-no consensus. Now I want hand my notice and do not know what my notice period is. Contract states a month when permament, a week on probation.
I can work until the end of month only as have other job secured.
What do you think I should put in my letter? I think employers should provide another contract (permanent) or send a letter confirming end of probation period. Am I right? UK based

He hates his office job and if he does this course he'd be a qualified pilot. It seems he can get the money from loans but he'd be in big trouble if it all goes wrong. He's dead set on it and the course starts in a few months. He's 30 years old with no prior experience of aviation or engineering.

I really don't have a current title, but the jobs I do could be described as Corporate Controller, Accounting Manager, Administraitve Manager, Payroll Manager, etc. etc.

I had a boss once who got me business cards that stated my title was "Controller", but yet I was only making $10 an hour. So my question is do you care more about your title, than the actual job you do?

I have been suspended from my place of work for receiving 6 personal emails. They were very short and urgent and from 2 family members. I have never given out my address and in 4 years at this place - it is the only time I have ever used the system for non-business related purposes. I don't even work anywhere that important (!) - just in the Head Office of a Department Store. I am being investigated for Gross Misconduct - I am very upset and humiliated. Does this sound like victimisation? Or a fair suspension. I am seriously looking at my options with regards to fighting this horrible company.

I'm my line of work ( I work for a non-profit organization ) I see many people. I have witness so many single mothers taking out there stress on the child. Ofcourse sometimes a child deserves a spanking, but it just kills me to witness this. Today inside my office this single mother came in with her 4 year old son, she wanted me to return her some money, but im not authorize to do so and I explain, she understands, the little boy keeps on buggin her but in a way any child would, she says "excuse me" to me and graves her shoe and starts HITTING HER SON. I complitly FROZE. I mean what can someone do in that situation....I wish there was something, but I really don't know how to handle that...what you think ?

How do you tell your boss you never want to work for/w another person? I am at my wits end. I hate working w/ this person that my boss all ways sticks me with. This guy always gives the most vague instructions. He waits till the last possible minute to give you a massive project that needs to be done( most times the same day). Then, he sends 50 instant messages to see if you are 2 hours before it due and expects you to respond. I can't work w/ this dude anymore. I am temp and everyone always pawns this dude on me.

I went to my boss the next day and told him about the incedent and he asked me were their any witness's and i said yes. He asked the person to tell him what happened and he told completly different story. The boss didn't beleive me and I quit. I'm currently starting a new job Monday. What do I do if i'm working with more Polish and somthing similar happens?

I worked for a company for which i had 25 days holiday a year (Jan 01 - Dec 31) which equates to 2.083 days a month. I left on Sept 30 after handing my notice in on Aug 30, they are saying that I only accrued 8 x 2.083 days holiday and have paid me accordingly (minus the holiday that I have took) whereas I think that I should be entitled to 9 x 2.083 days holiday as I was there from Jan 1 and worked 9 full months! What does employment law say about this?
