Are you happy there?

I have a misdemeanor on my records for petit theft when I was 18. (almost 4 years ago.) It's the only thing I have on my records and I sort of forgot about it. I was in an interview today, and when I was filling out the application I didn't see the part where it asks about your crime history. When she looked over it, she asked me if I had any past crimes, and I said no. I had to fill out this form giving her information so she could do a background check on me. She said she wouldn't get the background check back for another 5 or 6 days, and she would give me a call then. When I got home, I remembered about my misdemeanor. I think I have a chance at saving this job. I want it so bad! It's a job at a high-scale new apartment complex. I don't know what their policy is on hiring people w/ a misdemeanor, but if it is allowable I'm sure I can fix it. Any suggestions?

I have a job interview next week as a conveyancing secretary. I have lots of secretarial experience, but don't really know what I would be doing as a conveyancing secretary. I would like to go into the interview and sound as though I know a little bit. Any advice?

There is a guy here that won't stop staring at me.. then when I look at him he plays with his tounge ring. He does that whole middle school act of trying to talk about "cool" stuff around me to make himself look cool or get my attention! He drives me nuts!

I work retail and my boss is wanting to call a meeting on Saturday September 16th at 8 am. I was told by one of my co-workers that he and I don't work the opening shift that day and I really don't want to go considering it's 60 extra more miles there and back. Can you think of a good excuse for not going? I have to be at work in 3 hours today and I'll need to have a reason before then.

I'm about to start in a very man dominated job this upcoming week; and I am expecting to hear some crude comments. If nothing else, I was warned about it by the employer; that they try to control it, but he wanted to make sure I can handle it. I've handled it all my life, lol, grew up with guys; hat's not the issue at all; just what's the best way to handle comments like that without seeming a prude, but not insulting, either. I'm happily married, and I plan on making that known to anyone who tries anything, but... any advice?
Mmm, and in case you're wondering, it's fish filleting, lol, grew up fishing and that with my dad and his mates; it pays well and I enjoy the manual labour with my hands that it involves.
Thanks in advance for the help!f

I am currently fighting my ex-employer due to labor violations. One of them being not being paid overtime pay. I have apparently won my claim, however, my ex-employer is claiming I was on salary instead of hourly. I have argued this with the DOL but seem to be unable to get it through their heads.
My understanding of salary was that you get paid for the full 40 hours (provided you worked 3 days during the week) even if you were not their 40 hours. But the case worker is telling me different.
Is their any possible reasons the ex-employer is saying I was salary and not hourly that he would be using to his advantage?

People talking loudly on phones/to each other, doors shutting, people shuffling around, TV's, cell phone ringers, people whistling, etc. I'm a programmer and need silence! I've tried listening to music, but that doesn't cut it.

What would you do to get a little more peace and quiet at work?
