I'm about to start in a very man dominated job this upcoming week; and I am expecting to hear some crude comments. If nothing else, I was warned about it by the employer; that they try to control it, but he wanted to make sure I can handle it. I've handled it all my life, lol, grew up with guys; hat's not the issue at all; just what's the best way to handle comments like that without seeming a prude, but not insulting, either. I'm happily married, and I plan on making that known to anyone who tries anything, but... any advice?
Mmm, and in case you're wondering, it's fish filleting, lol, grew up fishing and that with my dad and his mates; it pays well and I enjoy the manual labour with my hands that it involves.
Thanks in advance for the help!f

Come up with a number of "pat" answers that don't engage the guys.

If they make some sexual comment to you, say, you know the next time I see your girlfriend/ wife, I'll have to ask her about that - say it with a smile

If you don't like them cursing, then when they do, say "there's a lady present" - you have to decide if that bothers you (it does me, and I stop the guys dead in their tracks).

If they play tricks, then go along and let them get a good laugh - be a good sport about it - and turnabout is fair play. If a condom shows up in your lunch box, when the guys chortle, hold it up and say, looking around the room, hm, who could use this, and then say "none of you look like you're getting lucky tonight, I'll save it for someone who will". You can return the favor with a tampon in their lunch the next day.

It relies upon on what countries you're concerning. In 1st international countries, both adult males an females face equivalent hardships. adult males ought to face dropping their little ones after divorce and are frequently positioned down via society without society determining they're doing it. on the different hand, females in 1st international countries nevertheless face subject matters like rape, low gross sales, problems having little ones even as operating, no maternity go away, or maybe discrimination in the place of work. nonetheless, females do have reward that adult males do not. In third international countries or some thing in between, there is absolute self belief who has it worse.

As long as they aren't groping you or being overly friendly; as long as it is teasing-testing you for toughness..etc.

stay away from lawyers and harrassment accusations.

I agree with the ones here who say dish it right back. Men aren't monsters, the typical guy wont go that far and will warm up to you once they get to know you. Theres probably too much work to do to worry about this stuff anyway.

Actually, it's illegal for your employer not to do anything about such remarks, but if you want to just work and not make static then the best way to handle it is not to rise to the bait. Either ignore it, or give it right back to them.

I am generally placed in male dominated in environments. What I learned in the military is that if they can dish it, they can take it! The ones that can't take it learn quick to shut it. Hang tough!

Dish it right back to them. Be just as nasty as they are, and they will respect you for it.
