I know that this is a subjective question, but let me know what you think: my headhunter told me that, when in a job interview, that if you're asked what salary you're looking for (management level), you should try not to give an actual number, and instead, be vague and say things like, "I'm interested in a salary that would be comensurate with my experience and this position" etc, etc.... What are your thoughts? I'm afraid if I don't give a concrete answer, I may come across as not a team player, or difficult, despite my otherwise friendly, easy-going demeanor.

Is the first offer usually at the low end of the range?
Who gets a high offer and why? Why the interviewer never like to give you the salary range for the position. I hate the game they play.

If they offer you a job. REFUSE IT. They pose as a secert shopper company. They offer you really great pay. Well that old addage if it souds to go to be true it is . Is really correct. So they send you money orders thru the mail and ask you to cash them and go to wal mart with the money and say you are checking the ease and realibility of sending these money grams. You have to call them with a reference code fill out a form and fax it back to them. The web site they have is very proffesional looking they have an 800 number when you call it it all sounds so real and leagal. Well let me tell you DO NOT WORK FOR THEM EVER IT IS A VERY CLEAVER SCAM. After you send the money gram you find out that the money order was a fake so quess what now you owe the bank or where ever you cashed it. SO THIS GREAT JOB YOU HAVE IS A SCAM AND YOU ARE SENDING THE MONEY TO THEM BUT IT IS YOUR MONEY NOT THEIRS BECAUSE THE MONEY ORDERS ARE FAKE . PLEASE LET EVERYONE YOU KNOW , KNOW ABOUT THIS I WAS SCAMMED.

For personal reasons i am trying to ascertain if the E.U. passed legislation prohibiting the implementation of 12 hour shifts in companies where it was not already the practice. Some people I know are of the opinion that this is the case and that legislation was brought into force approximately three years ago.
I would be grateful if someone could tell me if this legislation exists or not.

All I want from this job is a job and nothing more. All I want from my boss is a boss, a good boss, and not a friend or buddy. She insists on being friends and tells me all the time that she and I are friends outside of work, but that she's the boss from 9 to 5. What should I do with her? I don't want to be her friend.

I had an interview at Michaels a week ago during a job fair aftered I applied for a cashier position.
Good points:
*I was very professional and even had a portfolio with me.
*I mentioned the internship that I did just this summer and showed him some of the projects I did during the internship.
*I gave him a well prepared resume and a reference sheet.
*I mentioned to him that I may be working at the fair Sept. 9-24.
Bad points:
*He asked if knew the store well and I truthfully answered no.
*He asked if I had cashiering experience and I answered no.
*He asked if I was eighteen yet and I said that I will be eighteen in late October. (He recorded my birthday for future reference.)
*I called on Tues. and they said they will ask for a second interview if they are interested but they haven't called.
I"m hoping they might be waiting until I have more experience from the fair and until I'm eighteen to give me a position. Do employers do that? Is it probable?
