I am specializing in either Technical Writing or Teaching of writing at a community college level. Please tell me your experience with this and if you like it, hate it, etc. Also, how much can I expect to make just starting out after I graduate with this Master's Degree (from a California State University)?

Can you get a good job with a gross misdemeanor on your record, what about a Felony? I mean, before the allotted time to goes by to get it expunged off your record? Has anyone found any special secrets to get a good job, like companies who don't do background checks or something?

I'm looking for a job. I have a degree, I have what I think is a great deal of experience, but nothing. I have been looking for two years. I go on interviews and they tell me that I seem to big for the job, I don't know what that is suppose to mean. I try to tone things down and take items off of my resume, but I constantly get this, "You should be doing something on your own."

I work in nonprofit, but I also write. I have applied for both nonprofit and writing jobs. I live in Los Angeles. I am getting very frustrated, it is getting more and more expensive here, I paste together all of these insane jobs and live a hand to mouth sort of existence, I'm going to end up homeless, if something doesn't change, I tried to apply for a job at Trader Joes and they didn't even call me back...please give me some advice...

Is there any advice you would have in regards to attitude, presentation, approach, etc. for a job interview in which the position has been narrowed down to myself and another candidate? This is the second time this has happened to me, and I really don't like it, but I have to deal with it. Like to hear from others on how they prepared their mind-set for this situation

you know when you apply for a job onine through one of the job sites like careerbuilder or hot jobs.. . . . what is your email cover letter supposed to look like. don't need help with wording or the body, but do you it in memo form i.e. To, From, Subject, Date or do you just go straight into it by saying something like Dear Hiring Manager. Do you follow up with another letter if you hear nothing or just say *#! I'm sorry but duhhhh . . . and help!

Today, I took the day off from work (which is next to impossible because my boss doesn't give time off) I had an interview for another job. Now, they are wanting me to come back for a second interview next week. My work does not give vacation, sick, or personal days. What kind of excuse can I give to leave early for an interview. My excuse today was my doctor wants to run some tests on me and they have to do some blood work and my father is taking me because usually it makes me ill afterwards so I wouldn't be back for work after the appointment.
