OK I went on an interview on my b-day August 10th for a job I really want. The following Monday (8/14) I had a second interview with the same company for the same job. I had an employment test right after that interview. One day later the Human Resources Manager told me they were down to a couple of candidates and needed references. The next day the human resources manager went on vacation and won't be back until August 28th. She left an emergency call number for another person in human resources on her voicemail. Do you think I should call that emergency number and ask what is going on with the job? I haven't heard anything and I am going crazy over here. I am worried that I lost the job. I don't want to hurt my chances by being too pushy, but I don't want to lose the job either. What would you do? Thanks for your opinions and advice.

I don't want to have to pay for a starter kit for a low price. If I have to pay, I don't need it. So just jobs that are for real.

I was interviewed by the manager, then the supervisor came in to tell me a little bit about the job. I don't recall her name. The only thing I know is what department she works in. I tried calling to get her name but had no luck. Is it okay to just ask the manager to pass along my thanks? I dont want this to hurt my chances. Also, is it acceptable to just write on regular printing paper or does it need to be something special?

Describe a scenario where you feel/felt your boss at work was completely irrational or handled a situation inappropriately. How did this affect your work performance/ willingness to be there?

*My boss, often, sweeps problems or issues under the rug, rather than handles it then and there...causing problems to continue as always, which results in more frequent walk-outs or angry employees.. very unprofessional.

I am presently working at a 55Billion dollar Wealth Management company in Toronto
I work on systems such as Croesus / Axys / IBM AS400 and ADP Dataphile.
I do system maintenance, account/position reconciliation, and ROR reporting support for
The company’s investment advisors.

My question pertains to my career path.
My skills and experience are very vast.
I have worked on the Trading Floor, Derivatives Desk, in the IT department for Financial companies.
I have some experience in Market research.
I have a flair for Project management and Management in general.
I have the CSC & CPH, and a Finance degree. I’ve reviewed the CFA I material and
Aptitude wise I find the first level a cake walk, I mean I can take the exam tomorrow
With just my present knowledge & experience.
For Level II & III I will have to put in about 3-6 months each studying.

I am wondering on the path I should take here on.

My options are (I think, please suggest more)
Becoming an Investment Advisor (I understand, can interpret and love the Markets, but I hate sales)
I can do a CFA but what next??
I can get into project management, but in what kind of a role and working on what?
Developing systems, developing products? Confused here.

Im 25 so I have time on my side, I want to get into the 85-100K range in the next 2-3 years
What’s hot??
Please guide.

Recently, a lot of my close friends whose parents owned businesses have emigrated to the USA and continue to live there after their further studies. Their parents have successful medium sized businesses employing 100 over people, but they prefer to be an employee in the USA - Does it pay more for an MBA? One guy told me he could earn 1 million USD as an investment banker after graduating with an MBA. My question is, should I follow their lead, get an MBA and then pursue a full-time career, or join my dad's logistics and trucking business which employs 100 people and makes around 1 million USD in profit? I am really tempted to explore the USA, yet dont know whether it is a wise choice given my situation and I am seeking insight.

I have gone through two boxes of tissue paper for my nose, I haven't been able to sleep for 48 hours, and I feel more miserable than I remember feeling in a long time. I only work with a few people and I am afraid of making everyone in the office sick. I just help out for a few hours everyday, and if everyone in the office got sick, the whole place would come to a standstill. However, I have a two-month period to prove my worthiness to this employer for a raise and a permanent position, and I would like to not miss any days during that time. What do I do?
Also: Another employee that covers shifts for me anyhow will be there, but I don't want it to seem like I plan on having her work for me all the time.
