You don't have to do that. If your employer wants to check you out that's his responsibility.

That's strange. Your employer asked you to submit a background check on yourself? That defeats the whole purpose. Employers usually have an agency they use and they do not trust the employees to submit accurate background checks on themselves.

Depends on what the employer considers necessary background information.
If Police Record... then go to Maryland Police Station and ask for your record... If you've done nothing.. you get a piece of paper saying so...
Usually they want this for the past 5 years.
Other than that... I agree with the others.. that the employer should do that.. not you.

I live in Kentucky ... if the employer's require a background check, they are supposed to get it themselves ... some may have you sign a waiver saying that you know that it will only be used for the job you are applying for and that nothing adverse will appear in the report and if there is and you haven't told them about it, it will be grounds for immediate termination of employment.

I am not sure how it works in the USA, but in Canada, all I had to do was to go to a police station and request a background check. It takes a few days for them to submit a letter stating that my background is cleared. Most companies will however conduct the background check themselves.

Well usually a background check is not required unless the employer requires it. If so.. then they will have a location specified for you to go to do the background check.

contact the State law enforcement agency and request a background check. it usually cost $30.00 dollars or less. if your employer requires a comprehensive background check you must contact the FBI and send all types of ID ir go directly to that city's office to request one. this takes a while, usually 3 weeks.

I live in Kentucky, the employer does the background check, and pays for it too. If they refuse to do that they are scamming you.

Here in SC you go to the Sheriff's Dept with your i.d. It costs $6 and takes about 10 minutes. They only provide this service during regular weekday hours when they have all of the clerical staff, but our Sheriff's Dept. is pretty small.

I've had to get them when I apply for security positions. Go to your County Sheriff Dept., they can run one for you in a couple minutes, and it cost (or did) $3-$5 bucks. You may want to call first to see how much they charge now. Good luck on your new job!
