Perhaps you are scared because this is all new stuff and you think you don't know enough and ou make mistakes?

You should give it a try. Because you would learn something new this way and learned stuff is like capital. the more you learn the more you earn.

So go and just do it and try to do it as good as you can, because you can. This is an opportunity for you to grow, you should take it.

Hey - in worst case it will be all wrong and hell breaks lose and the sky will fall down. But then you will for sure be able to find a nother job. No worries.

I always thought the customer service desk was a step up from working the floor. Does it come with a raise or more opportunities to move up perhaps into management?

Sometimes change can be good if you just give it a chance and work to get thru the first few days. If you really don't like it then and want to return to your old position speak to your manager and explain to him that you are just not customer service material, but you'll do a "heck of a job" on the floor.

By the way - hissy fits never accomplish anything, but to make you look immature and unprofessional and they always backfire in the long run.

Good luck.

Are you really good with unhappy customers? If so this may be a nod to your skill at handling them, and hence a compliment. They could also just be grabbing a body to place in that spot, it's hard to say.

Will you be losing income? If so, and you think that you'll really hate it, try talking to a supervisor. However, it would be better if you tried to tough it out for a bit and see how you like it - at least then the company will know that you are willing to try and be a team player.

"considering havin a hissy fit/kickin up a fuss bout it"

You would be terrible at it since you aren't even mature enough to approach your boss like a grown woman and discuss the fact that you are uncertain about the position.

Customer service people need to have both smarts and people skills.

They should choose someone else.

I'd say don't be a push-over. If you don't want to transfer, don't ! Make sure your boss knows how you feel. On the other hand, being forthcoming, vocal and stubborn has lost me my job on many occasions. You really need to weigh up how important the job is to you and could you find better elsewhere? The new job could also be a blessing in disguise. You never know, you may love it.

You could tell them how you feel without having a fit. Tell them you like what you are doing and don't want to change. Maybe the other job is a promotion and they felt they could use your talents in a better way. Try to look at the bright side.

Never just say "I don't want to do it" or an outright NO! That will only get ther backs up. Play them at their own game and be diplomatic about it. Tell them " Thanks for considering me for this new position but unfortunatley I don't feel comfortable in that role and would not be able to carry it out to the best of my abilities"

It's a kind of gentle slap in their face but with a smile!!
