Very simple--taxes.
Taxes are based on how much you make. If you work sixty hours one week, (I assume that's 20 hours of overtime), according to the tax table, it is assumed that you are making that much money EVERY week. FOR THAT WEEK YOU WERE BUMPED UP TO A HIGHER TAX BRACKET. So, more taxes are taken out...too much tax is taken out. That is why some people get a tax refund check after they make out their taxes...because of too much tax being taken out..and this is one way that happens. So, the extra tax money that was taken off your check during the weeks you work over time will be returned to you when you complete your tax return in April and you will be getting it back in a refund check.
It also depends on how many deductions you each claim. He might claim more--too many more--and winds up getting more take home pay now but has to pay taxes when he makes out his tax return in April. While you will be getting a refund check from the government...he will be sending a tax check to the government.

are you paid the same rate? hourly or salary? deductions, tax rate? All these things could be impacting yours and his net pay.
If it's hourly and all else is equal, you should be making 20 hours of time and half (if hourly pay) plus your forty regular, he would be getting forty regular.

You just said. You get paid the same. That's why your checks are even. Why are you working so much?

taxes...
1 - overtime puts you in a diffrent tax bracket.
2 - you may be just reaching into a diffrent income bracket, and again get taxed more.
3 - depends on how many deductions your getting. you may get 0 allowances, while he asks for more.... just depends...
