Can you get a good job with a gross misdemeanor on your record, what about a Felony? I mean, before the allotted time to goes by to get it expunged off your record? Has anyone found any special secrets to get a good job, like companies who don't do background checks or something?

There are some not for profit companies that do hire those who have a criminal record whether for a felony or misdemeanor, depending on the severity of it. I believe they do background checks as well. You should be able to find a job as mechanic or construction work or any other blue collar field. Good luck and keep your head up!!!!

I'm a nurse and I have a misdemeanor just from hanging with the wrong crowd when I was younger,I explain what happened to the employer b4 I am hired and I always get the job.For nursing they do a back round check anyway,it's better to be up front about it.I have a good friend and he has several felonies and he makes good money doing that HVAC,you know repairing AC and freezers. He said he just be straight up with the employer,he said he even go as far as to tell them he got the trade while he was in jail!lol

A caution does not stop you. The employer will tell you that they do background checks because you have to say it's ok. It depends on the crime. If you were convicted of a DUI and the job doesn't have anything to do with driving, although it would be on your record, it doesn't stop you from getting the job.

yeah, small companies usually don't do background checks. Sometimes, you can get by with a misdemeanor, but I don't know about a felony

i think a good thing would be to go back to school, get a good education and start over. I would also start on the bottom... and work you way up. You have to remember that what ever you have done in your past is going to haunt you in some way and people have no reason to trust you, so you have to" earn that trust" back.
It's never too late to start over as long as you're sincere about it.
I wish you the best of luck, hang in there!!

It's possible to get into state and local programs for such situations. Unfortunately there's a stigma attached to a crimal record, however minor it is, it's a character issue for most people. You should have no problem getting into politics!!!!

If its a misdemeaner then it wont come off your record.
Depending on the job and the nature of the offense you may be able to get plenty of good jobs.
