I know how hard it can be to find a job. Here is my advice to you.

1. As others have said you need to update your resume. Think about things that you have been doing the past three years that may be transferable skills (i.e. You've been keeping your house in order = you have great organizational skills; you've been taking care of the kids = you are a great negotiator, able to organize and manage others, etc.) and add them to your resume.

2. Think about a career that you want to have. Do you need to take a couple of classes to update your knowledge? Or, read all the information that you can about the field so that you will know all of the current key terms used.

3. Start small. It's not always about jumping straight in to a full time position. If you can get a part time job, go for it, prove yourself and you may get a full-time job offer. At the very least, you will have a job.

4. If the career you want is in a field that has a group organization (of any sort) that has frequent meetings you may want to attend one (if it's open to everyone). Networking is the best way to get a job. (This is the step that helped me find a job). Look to family and friends as a good starting point.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

I am 54...have the same problem...but the answer is to take any job...just go to work and make some money...and then think what you want to do...but realise that you have some problem, like me, and face the problem....but at least you can make at least minimum wage...your friends and family will have more respect for you if you are accomplishing something....they dont understand your real problem, but they wont sympathise with inaction either. I would dig up an old resume and polish it up and then I would go to several career sites such as www.findacareerhere.com, monster.com etc... and then I would apply, apply, apply.
