The reason I ask this question is, a co-worker and I were talking yesterday and we both agreed that we are ashamed to admit to people what we do for a living. Anyone else in the same boat? I find that anytime I meet someone new or run into an old classmate I'm embarrassed.

It doesn't really matter what you do, but are you proud to say you do it?

She is not fat. But her priorities are so different from mine. She is really driving me crazy. And the bets part is that everyday she talks about the Crabs she is going to buy and eat on the weekend, every weekend. She is a temporary employee. And has a boyfriend and a son. She lives in a one bedroom apt and they all sleep in the same room. HELP ME!!! Am I a snob or is she that diferent from me?

I work for a large company. Most of the employees are on payroll but some of the lower-pay employees like Admin Assistants (me), are hourly and have to clock in and out. We had a fire in the building Monday and weren't able to work half of Monday or all of Tuesday. I came by the building over and over trying to see if I could work, and we weren't cleared to enter yet.
Now the rumor is that salaried employees are going to get paid, and hourly ones are not. Is this legal? is it discrimination?

I have earned a coveted interview with a local bank next Wednesday. I was fired from my last job for nothing short of B.S. They told me that I didn't seem interested in my job and that I came late for a meeting one time. I don't know what I should tell the interviewer when they ask me about this last job. Could someone please give me some advice?

For example do M&A lawyers normally work harder than Real Estate Lawyers? or say, Entertainment Lawyers? I am entering law school this year and was curious.

I really want and need to work. but right now I am having some physical difficulties that make it almost imossible for me to stand on my feet for more than about 3 hours. I see so many things about medical transcripting and even paid surveys. Are they legitimate? I really like to work and need something to get me through at least a few months until this medical problem is resolved. Thanks for any help.

...that there is a maximum working temperature of 38 degrees if you are tied to a workstation, such as office workers for example, but for people who work in factories, there isnt one because they can move around?

I haven't had a proper job in 3 yrs. now. This is due to alcoholism.I have had treatment and have been sober for 5 mths. now I'm starting to feel guilty but I dont want to jeopardise the progress I have made. I have a good job lined up as long as I pass my driving test in 6 weeks time. Is it wrong for me to wait for this and claim sickness benefit in the meantime?
