I'd like to know, from someone who has taken it, what is the emphasis of the quantitative section of the LEVEL 1 CFA Exam. How many of the statistical equations did you memorize? I understand most of the concepts well, but their are so many equations!! I am specialy having trouble with the probability concept equations. TVM I can do in my sleep, and distributions I get.

The results of the June exam just came in today -- so I can tell you the exact weighting from that test.

The maximum number of points from the Quantitative Analysis section was 28. There were 240 total possible points on the exam.

I didn't memorize a lot of things for that section. I feel pretty comfortable with normal and lognormal distributions and with calculating probabilities. I memorized the formulas for the mean and variance of the binomial distribution. I did a quick review of some of the common statistical tests. That was about it. I did OK in that section -- but not as well as in other sections.

The pass rate was 40% this time (up from 34%)
