I work for a small organization. At my first evaluation, my boss told me that my work was excellent and that I was very reliable. They however feel that I should not take breaks with my 1 other colleague and that I have to work alone, and take all my breaks alone. This was not written in my offer of employment. I'm confused; I just want to know if they have the right to do that.

B/f John is networking his father's friends for a job but he will insist on wearing his old school tie. He admits none of them wear one but thinks it still sends the right signals. What are the modern nods and winks?

I overstated my current income (I stated I earn $45,000 when I actually earn $35,000/year) & my job duties/title (I stated that I am the "Director" when I am actually a "Manager). I know that referenced are checked, but HR only verifies employment, not salary and title, right?

I maybe being considered for a position but since I don't know for sure I noticed another job I'd like to apply for within the same company. What would be the proper etiquette? Should I mention it to the other hiring manager? I wouldn't want to affect my chances but at the same time I want to keep my options open.

I just began working at a company (2 months ago) with about 800 world employees. I'm actually also part of a union (first time in my life). Unfortunately they are looking to cut back costs & they are already going to be laying people off. My question to all of you is who gets laid off first. The person who has put the most time in to the company but make more because of their seniority or someone like me who just started and makes the least amount. Who is the union supposed to protect more? We both do the same amount of work, the only difference is they have been here longer than I have. All responses welcome. Thanks!
