It is not a good thing to lie on an application, you can be fired for misjudification on an application. Employers can only ask certain questions as well as answer. But if they talking and it happened to come up then you are screwed. I would not lie about it what can you possibly gain more money. Put down the amount you want then negotiate with them. If they see you lied they will not hire you in there mind they will think if she lies about this what else will she lie about.

Wish you'd asked before you did it. No, it's NOT okay. Do you really want to start off a work relationship with a deception? That makes as much sense as starting off your life in the US by breaking the law. You'll be filling out more applications soon--this time don't lie!

The new company probably has provisions in their application or employment contract that gives them the right to terminate you for falsifying information. HR can check anything they want to check once you sign the authorization for the background check. In short, no, it's not okay to lie on your resume/application.

I'd start looking for another job to apply for. Many of the payroll processing companies offer background checking for companies at a nominal cost...and they cover both title and salary. You lose!

Only if the new employer doesn't check into your work history. If they do you may be fired for using the false info.

salary YES and title YES. definitely the salary since they need to know what you've been paid before. you might get away with the title since they're kind of the same but they will get you on the salary.

It will come back on you. More important than losing the job you're after, you'll get a reputation for poor ethics and dishonesty.

If the job you are going for is interested in you there is a good chance that they will catch you in your lies. why lie when it is so easy to tell the truth.
