What's the most creative excuse you've ever used when you're late for work?

1. I hit a deer! (Turned out to be true)
2. I drove ten miles before I realized I didn't have my glasses on... had to go back for them.
3. Forget my keys after I was down the road a bit... had to go back for them.
4. I stopped to help a lady with car trouble... she needed a jump.
5. I was stuck in a line of cars waiting for a train that had broken down on the rails.

I usually stay away from too creative because they don't really sound practical but I remember saying that a funeral passed by.

When I miss a day of work I just say that a family member or someone really close got in the hospital.

There was a cow in the field giving birth and I pulled over to watch. True Story.....funny thing is my customer passed by and saw the bonding between mother and calf, just after me so he believed me! The calf was pure white amongst a field of brown, tan & white cows.
