I would like to work from home, doing data entry or transcribing. It seems like every job listing on the web is either a scam or requires money. I am not looking for quick money, just wondering if there is any legit jobs out there???

laziness is not a very good work ethic, some employers wont fire them because they are keeping a certain # of personnel in the workplace. how can this be reported without fear of repercussions?

this employee has been calling in sick. 5 times in the past two weeks, when she is at work she is crying etc. after talking with her she said hubby lost 3rd job because of drinking problem and she has been so distraut over what is going on that she can't focus...she even didn't have the end of month numbers ready for me to take to the owner (she is the accountant under me)
What do I do with her she's only been working here 9 months and is part of a small accounting staff of 3 others(total of 4) under me.
As a manager what can I do?

I have had several problems with a fellow employee and had to file a formal complaint. Although this person is not my direct superior, she is a high level manager. I was under the impression it was confidential but my HR department showed it to the person whom the complaint was about. Are there any laws protecting my anonymity?

"This job requires you to Upsell, cross-sell, and assist customers with nutritional products. Tell us about any nutritional knowledge and/or selling skill you have?"

I have no nutritional knowledge, so I should probably write about my selling skills, does anyone have a good answer to this question?

I'm 24, I've been working as a translator for 2 years in the document control department. I translate documents English to Spanish. I also speak French and Japanese. I've never been to Japan, but I passed the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) at the Japanese embassy in Mexico City. A company was asking for a trilingual buyer, someone who could speak Japanese, Spanish, and English. I got an interview, and the choice was between me, and this 22-year-old guy, fresh out of college who I got to speak with. His Japanese sucked, but he had great stories about his two-week vacation in Japan. The interviewer spoke no Japanese, she just listened me talk about my Japanese certifications from different institutions, and his vacation in Japan. She chose him to be the new buyer.
She chose a non-Japanese speaker who went to Japan for 2 weeks, over someone certified who just hasn't had the chance to go over there.

Is this fair?

OK, so I'm filling out applications for my first job, and I came across a question that no one can seem to answer for me. I need to know if it's alright to put a shortened version of my first name on the application. This is the name I am ALWAYS called, and I'm actually planning on legally changing it once I turn 18. Now, I asked my mother about this, and she said I shouldn't - even though she does it herself! (She hasn't legally changed the name she was born with, but the shortened version is on her driver's licence, rental agreement, signature, credit cards, etc.) So, I'm confused. Can anyone help me on this? (BTW, I'm in California, if that makes any legal difference.)
