Here is my situation. I am an IT consultant working by W2, and this year i would have made about 15k (worked 6 months), and 6 months of unemployment which I had them take out the taxes for.

Recently I did a programing job for a company in NY. They payed me $3,000 (company check).

What am I supposed to do? Deposit it, and fill out a 1099 when I do my taxes? Is the company supposed to send me a form so I can do the 1099? I am not sure what the procedure for this would be, but if you guys can give me an idea of how this works I'd appreciate it.

I don't want to have any problems when I deposit this and do my income tax in january.

Thanks in advanced.

I have worked for a company for coming up on 2 years. In that time, I have received neither a review nor a raise. I plan to ask for a review on my 2 year anniversary with the company. I make $14.50 an hour and it's just not going to cut it anymore. I do a good job and I work hard. The cost of living in Alaska compared with what I make is a joke. I have been working in the real estate industry for 3.5 years now. 14.50 was great for starting out but now...?
What do you all think is fair for a raise?

I have a graphic design project where I have to create a brochure. Since my cousin has spoken about wanting to open a event planning business, I decided to kill 2 birds with one stone: surprise her with the brochure & fulfill my project.

What's a good name for the business?
Her name is April Showers so I came up with "Heavenly Showers Elite Events" but it doesn't really roll of the tongue.
Any ideas?

The disadvantage of treating workers like human beings is that you may have labor cost increases and not enough of a morale boost. The advantage of treating employees as replacable as commodities is that you can keep costs lower and your labor is dynamic because you can easily remove employees who produce poorly.

I am filling out my W-4 and wondering if I am considered Head of Household. I am a full-time student, and I work full-time as well. I have my own apartment (renting) and I pay all the utilities and support myself. Does Head of Household mean you have to own a house?? Thanks!

Do you think escort services are REAL jobs? Do you think it is a respectable career? How do you think somebody with low self esteem could grow in that buisness?

Just questions I am wondering, nothing personal :)

My financial and living situation has recently changed, and I checked the federal tax website. The website says I get 11 exemptions. I need to contact my employer to let them know, but where on the form do you put your exemptions. Do you have to specify, or do you just put a number? I am not stupid, I promise. I just forget what the W-4 even looks like at this second. Thanks!!

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with asking someone who's house you want to buy, when it isn't listed for sale. I see a house that I would like but it isn't for sale privately or with an agent. Just wondering if anyone has done this before.

I work in retail.. I'm 22, married, and my husband works about 45-55 hours a week. We could live on his salary alone, but we're trying to pay off a few things and have some decent savings before we have kids. I've only been at this job 4½ months, and I've already taken quite a few sick days. The boss has said that since it's still early if it keeps happening they might let me go, which I totally understand. I don't hate the job overall, but there are days I hate it depending on what I'm doing. I filled out a form to change my availability, and they keep scheduling me on the days and times I said I couldn't. I'm also scheduled more than I want to be. On my application I said I wanted to work 20-30 hours, and I keep having 40 hour weeks w/o full-time benefits. I'm considering going back to selling Avon, which would give me more flexibility, but less money, at least at first. As far as passions, I want to be a mom 1st, dietitian (maybe) later. Opinions?

I am working a contract job now. Both parties aren't satisfied, They're not satisfied with the outcome. I'm equally not satisfied because the job isn't the original description..in fact FAR from.

Tomorrow is the day when time sheets get signed. Today is pretty much do or die. So my question is either way, will I at least get compensated, even the the end product wasn't accomplished..?

I was told by law they do but they could be wrong..??

I'm 22 (about to turn 23 in 6 weeks) My company offers a 401(k) program which I have been participating in since March. I currently put in 5% of my pre-tax income in, which my company maches 5% of. Is this enough, should I be putting more in? I make about $35,000 a year and am currently living at home. Between my car payment and other payments, I am paying about $650 a month in bills.
