If you think about it, we consumers are being gouged. Compared to how cheap those old razorblades used to be (the whole ones you loaded into a razor and flipped-around when one edge was dull).
All the modern ones consist of is the smallest pieces of steel embedded in plastic! Sure they work, but so did the old ones!
Whiskers haven't changed!!

Often on TV ads, a new product offers a FREE trial sample, but attached a hefty shipping and handling charge. I don't think it costs $29.95 to send a 2 oz. sample of hand lotion. Then the sample really isn't FREE, is it?

I have a project in which I am trying to promote the open university and get people to return to education.
I had lots of ideas and my tutor has advised me to focus on an idea I have using fish. I have to do 3 posters and one poster was the idea of having a fish in a small fish bowl with the headline FEELIING TRAPPED? Some people feel trapped in jobs they hate and need a way to escape so I feel this fits in nicely. The posters all need to link so keeping on the fish theme is what I am trying to do. I have a few other little ideas like, showing an octapus with the heading WANTING MORE FLEXIBILITY? Or one fish looking at lots of other fish with the heading WANT TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS? Or a couple of fish looking at eachother with bubbles blowing out of the mouths with the heading WANT TO LEARN NE LANGUAGES? I am trying to focus on the benefits of the Open university but am finding it tough to link them to fish. Anyone have any good ideas would be super :) Thanks in advance

that in today's US, marketeers create needs where none exist to promote and sell useless items for the sake of selling and profits?
Rather than filling real needs and wants do advertisers create artificial and absurd needs and wants for profit alone as motive?

Alright. You all did it. You survived the Xmas holiday, and the day after Xmas sale fenzy. Consumer spending is low this year. How many of you have been hoarding money just for the opportunity to spend it on yourself for these sales? Who here wants to go on a shopping spree?

Star me if you are, cause as an investor I need to know consumer spending will pick up.

I have been selling on ebay for the last 6 months. I sell mostly high end stuff (iPhones, laptops, ipods, blackberries, Hi-Def camcorders, etc...) What are the advantages or disavantages of selling high-value on Amazon? Is it hard to start selling expensive stuff there (it took me 3 months of selling cheap books and DVD's to build up my feedback on ebay before I started selling higher and higher end stuff)? Is it easy to sell overseas on Amazon (70%) of my sales are overseas right now because of the low value of the dollar. Are there are high risk of buyer fraud like there is on ebay?

I haven't shopped at the Gap since, like, 1983, so I can't threaten to boycott their stores.

Message to the Y/A and GAP advertising geniuses: The drivel of which I write is probably pissing off more potential customers off than it's bringing in to the stores. Course I was just a potential customer--what do I know? But I know it's pissing me off and I am associating my piss-offedness with the GAP. Not good if you're trying to sell something. But again, what do I know.... Sincerely, conx

I know yahoo has to do what it can and must, to provide a free service for all of us. For that I am grateful. I try to use the pause button, but I always wind up clicking on to the site and sometimes by accident, I completely X myself off line (5 times now). It's just too much of a pain. How do you find out how long an ad will run? So I can come back then? Seriously...I am not trying to be sarcastic.

One of our competitor has it's stock going downwards as their product sales have declined in 2007. However they have managed to get honored by a publication that has given them an award for having the right strategies in place to grow in 2008. Is such an award valid. Do honors such as "Cool Company" from Gartnere, "Company's to Watch", "RedHerring Top 100" are misleading honors from publications or can a publication do what it pleases when honoring companies?

PC Magazine reviews a number of products and give one product the "Best Product" award. Unfortunately that is our competitors. However the magazine uses it's own review criteria and gives award. We believe if the products are reviewed with our methodology, we will be better than our competitors. Is there a case that the award the mag gave is not valid or does the mag have full rights to award they way they choose?
