I am going to the Congress in Los Angeles for Catholics and I am staying at the Hilton Hotel in LA. I just went on the website and it said it had high-speed-internet in every room. Does that mean that every room or some rooms have some kind of computer in it?

I was doing some research on some cities in California and I found some good choices: Newport Beach, Long Beach, Hermosa Beach, Santa Monica, and some places in San Diego. Could some one tell the me the advantages/ disadvantages of some of those? Which one would still allow me to live my dream of living in a beach city with out still making me go broke!

Don't get me wrong I do realise that in a city with a population of nearly 4 million people the chances are slim but where would you go to increase your chances of catching a glimpse of a celebrity or two?

My wife is a major TV and movie fan so seeing a famous face would probably make her day.

We are also visiting San Diego, Palm Springs and Vegas so if anyone knows of hot spots to go in these locations too then please shout up.

Hi, I am moving to LA soon for a job and will need to find an apartment. I've visited the area and liked Santa Monica but I've been warned about the traffic. The commute will be 7-8 miles directly up Wilshire. How long is that going to take if I have to be at work at 9 or 10am? Is it worth it vs living closer in Westwood (3-4 miles)? Is there anywhere else that might be better, keeping in mind the daily commute to Beverly Hills? I was hoping to find a 1br, at least 800sq ft for $1600-$1900. I will be living by myself and am in my late 20's. I'd like something near bars or other places to hang out on weekends. Walking distance would be a plus. The beach would be nice but if the commute is too long (over 30 minutes), it's not worth it to me. Yes I realize that may be picky for LA, but I'm used to a short commute :)

Hey has anyone noticed that the beacon over City Hall is almost never lit... and when it is lit, it's not as bright as it first was... Does anyone know what happend to it? Did people/building owners complain it was too bright. I kindah miss it I thought it was the coolest thing. If you knows anything let me know what you've heard or read?

Can anybody give me a suggestion on where to stay on the beach close to LA? I'm hoping to get a nice hotel/motel, clean, close to the beach, safe, with the best price possible.

Also the same question for Hollywood.

p.s. it will be during spring break.
Thank you.

The live in will have room and board paid by us. The children are 3 yr old triplets. The nanny does not drive so she could not pick up from school which leaves my oldest in after school care, the nanny is not have citizenship. She would have holidays off if we have it off.
