How and when did this become an unwritten law? It's very needed...it's pretty much the only way cars can make left turns at LA intersections. Does anyone know the history behind this?

I have just found my brother after thirty two years, I live in WV and he lives in LA. He is going to be on vacation in August and wants me, my husband, and two children to fly out there so he can meet us and take the kids to Disneyland. It's going to cost $2500 with hotel, car, air, and tickets to Disney. That's a really good deal, but I cannot have the money immediately to pay in advance without borrowing it. I have terrible credit and don't want to apply for a bunch of loans and be declined to make my score worse. I need ideas and fast. I am about two months out from when we would fly out.

My friends and me live in West Los Angeles, CA. We are kinda of bored with all the stuff that we usually do, such as shopping, eating, drinking, clubbing, etc; and we have visited most of the place in Los Angeles, Orange Counry, San Bernandino, or somewhere within 1-2 hours from LA. So, do you guys have any suggestion where we should go for a weekend? It can be from 2-10 hours driving or nice place that you think we should have visit. Can you tell me whats it like in L. A.? i've never been there, been near there, but briefly i know its pretty expensive but i need places to go and visit while i'm there interesting sites.
